Wolfmother guitarist Dave Atkins has left the band after two years and one album.
Atkins joined after Andrew Stockdale dumped original members Chris Ross and Myles Heskett and recruited a completely new line-up with Ian Peres, Aidan Nemeth and Dave Atkins joining to create a four-piece Wolfmother.
Ross and Heskett now perform as The Slew.
Atkins joined Wolfmother but stayed with his other group Resin Dogs.
The official statement from Wolfmother follows:
Well, after two years of good service to Wolfmother, Dave Atkins has decided to leave the band to spend much-needed time at home with his family.
Dave has had a great experience touring and recording with the band, though in time, itâs proven to be too exhausting and taxing on his home life. Dave gives his blessings to the band and may well still be around for future recordings.
All is good between the band, everyone is cool, this is more of a life change decision for Dave. After Andrewâs performances in L.A with Slash, the band decided to audition a few drummers whilst they were in town. And weâve come across a young gun by the name of Will Rockwell-Scott of 'Mooney Suzukiâ and 'Har Mar Superstarâ fame. Weâre very happy to have him on board and Will is keen as mustard to enter into the realm of Wolfmother.
So at this point Will Rockwell-Scott, will be with us for the rest of the Cosmic Egg touring cycle. So we look forward to seeing you all over the next three months in Europe, the U.S and Australia. There are some great festivals on the horizon and the band is really looking forward to seeing everyone out there.
