Not crazy about Danger Mouse but I do like Sparklehorse so I wanted to give this a shot. Can't really tell the prescence of either as each track features different vocalists from other bands or artists such as Suzanne Vega, Iggy Pop, Frank Black and Julian Casablanca. A few tracks I liked but not overall. Not even sure if this has been officialy released as there is some sort of stupid label dispute between the artists and EMI.

Primarily an Aussie band, but led by the Finn brothers from New Zealand and consisting of other U.S. members. Disbanded in 1996 only to reform 10 years later. This is their second album since then and 6th overall. Bigger in their homeland and the U.K. than in the states although they have had a couple of minor hits here. Like about half of this with no songs I can say were bad. Saturday Sun is the first single.

No idea where this should go due to the confusing element that everything refers to him as pop, and I can't detect any pop here. Reading a bio that says he's a former mouseketeer, maybe that's where it comes from. When I saw that before I listened, my thoughts were the same, oh no, not another one. Someone on the site here touted this and I don't know who it was. Hope it wasn't abrocks, lol. Anyway I liked most of this third album by Tony, whatever style he is. Maybe he changed styles, thus the pop labeling. These clips are from live performances which may not do justice, but they are representative. In fact most of them are pretty bad.

A wonderful '05 album from a band that have maintained the quality of their output over most of the duration of their 30 year career.

Ian McCulloch's voice shows little sign of deterioration, and Will Sargeant's guitar just seems to get better & better.

Great band playing great songs. What more could a boy want ??

Recorded almost entirely solo in a hunting cabin over the winter of '06/'07.

Folksy album featuring Justin Vernon's multi-tracked vocals, and some acoustic guitars, and not much else. Not dissimilar to Will Oldham.

Made some largish waves on this side of the pond. It's good, but not that good...

Upful Alternative Pop-Rock with a hefty topping of Electronics.

The band subsequently morphed into Simian Mobile Disco.

Although Mark Kozelek's one-trick-pony vocals can grate after a while, this is still a compelling piece of work.

Comes across like Husker Du on tranquilisers.

One of Sub Pop's better releases IMV.

Second release from US Art-Punkers, from '79.

This plays like it was made by Talking Heads' much stranger second cousins. Some excellent, inventive music topped by David Thomas' deranged vocals.

Over 30 years after release, this still sounds ahead of the game...

PS Just checked the last time I posted this album on here a couple of years ago, and the posts are very similar. Consistency points for me...

Recentley enjoying this very cool ska/punk band. Highly recommend their debut album 'Pezcore' if this is the first you've heard of them.
