Second album from Kiwi band, released in 1990.
Mostly tasteful guitar jangle, with a couple of Punk-paced Rockers. The vocals bring to mind Peter Garrett from Midnight Oil (don't know if that's just a lazy comparison, or if there's an Antipodean vocal sound that both share), or at times Al Stewart (?!). Lots of quality hooks, and distinctive melodies.
A little on the light side for me, but the melodies easily win out, and it's all done with a welcome touch of class.
Very good...
AllMusic 4/5 stars.

I don't know how I missed this band my whole life since they've been around forever but I did. Anyway I listened to them on Spotify the other day, twice. I really enjoyed it. It was classified as indie but was a lot more rocking than I expected from that classification.

Possibly my new favourite band. Posted this on facebook a while back.
The OP:
Lyrically, a great song highlighting the vanity and naivety of those at the forefront of the fashion industry....

HUNTERS & COLLECTORS "the fireman's curse" cd,1983.
the second set from these Aussie guys...hard to describe them/or this album...guess its like a quirky Bauhaus,Birthday Party(nick caves first band)...with a touch of early
Split Enz...
not a big seller, neither were any of their albums actually, more of a "cult" following, but gained respect over the last two decades...
probably not a good place to start exploring their career, but not a bad one to see the raw talent before big production teams polished up.
only a couple of links available for this one for some reason, but eight tacks, a prologue and an epilogue(not really songs!), all round a positive score of 2.0.

BLACK REBEL MOTORCYCLE CLUB "beat the devil's tattoo" cd,2010.
Corey pulled this one out of the hat a while ago, just got round to it now, well a couple of times over the last two days...
trio from Frisco, however the drummer is from the UK apparently...
this is the bands fifth studio release...
not sure how to describe it?...
sort of a cross between Oasis ealry material mixed with semi-psychadelia of say Beatles "rain" type sound and also some of Harrison's indian sounds at times...
reasonably sounding set of tracks, but i have not heard any other releases by this trio so i have nothing to compare it to in terms of whether it is good or bad by the group's standards, but it seems ok by me!
i guess the only problem with it is that there is little variation in the sound of the songs, that aside, not a bad album but dont think i would buy another one just on the strength of this release.
the album failed to chart here in Australia but did reach #58 in both UK and US, not even sure if any singles were released as if they did they did not chart in the forementioned countries.
allmusic rate this a healthy 4/5 or 2.4 on our rating system, seems to be a bit over valued to me but im not "the man"!!!
