V early, close-to-debut release from UK Post-Punkers.

Robert Smith's massive talent is evident, but not yet fully-formed.

The classic Cure sound is here, but it's hidden amongst other material which definitely sounds of its' time.

I just figured out you were referring to your previous post to the Lou Reed.
Trying to confuse me huh? It worked.
I have that Bragg album. I like most of it, but the cockney accent wears me down.
Like Ian Dury.

Vilified in the UK press for being part of the 2nd division Radiohead clone set, alongside Muse & Coldplay, Keane have been given a bit of a rough critical ride.

This debut, however, stands on its' own merits IMHO. There are few recent albums that are drenched in so many winning melodic hooks, and I find this a delight from start to finish.

BTW, it's debateable that this band are an Alternative to anything much, but it feels like it belongs in here...
