CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:[Image: 51GtHoLrzcL._SL500_AA300_.jpg]

...disc 1 complete, disc 2 on now, transfers well to the cd format, mind you, my vinyl version is 30yrs old and a bit worn now, only wished i'd bought the cd version earlier....countdown to what i think of The Wall has started....dont think there'll be any surprises, should rate reasonably well,Tiggi and Jerome will be happy to know that.

OK here we go - the thing that really appeals to me about the Floyd is that they broke so many barriers and rules through the years. They did what a lot of other bands were afraid to do. And those who weren't afraid to 'break the mould' didn't take the time to really do it to the same standard that Floyd did. 'Still First in Space' is a small but very relevant example of the amount of effort that went behind everything they did. They made sure it counted. Having four distinctly different personalities that were all able to contribute to the final product in some way or another helped as well. I remember reading an article where Roger said Rick did not make a significant contribution to 'Animals'. When I listen to this album all I hear is Rick. Think of the beginning of 'Pigs', the instrumental interlude during 'Dogs' and the jazzy beginning to Sheep. Not to mention all the bleeps and blobs inbetween. He was a massive contributor to their repetoire.

Going to have a stab at the 30th anniversary edition of Kansas - Two for the Show. This was Kansas at their very peak. What a band! Carry on my Wayward Son, Dust in the Wind, Song for America, etc. etc. all bloody brilliant.

Thought a best of set from these guys would fare better than it did. They did have a few more hits after this collection which would have raised it up I'm sure. Still three of their greats for me here. Main thing I didn't like about this band is the fact they rarely did original material. My favorite here happens to be a Paul Williams song, who could never sing a lick anyway, but wrote some great songs. The band did pick some good ones to cover. But they should have stayed away from Your Song, sacred ground. This album went to #5 on the Billboard charts. Some nice live 70's clips here.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Your Song

Best Track - Out In The Country

oh she may be weary
them young girls they do get wearied
wearing that same old miniskirt dress
but when she gets weary
you try a little tenderness
oh man that
un hunh
i know shes waiting
just anticipating
the thing that youl never never possess
no no no
but while she there waiting
try just a little bit of tenderness
thats all you got to do
now it might be a little bit sentimental no
but she has her greavs and care
but the soft words they are spoke so gentle
yeah yeah yeah
and it makes it easier to bear
oh she wont regret it
no no
them young girls they dont forget it
love is their whole happiness
yeah yeha yeah
but its all so easy
all you got to do is try
try a little tenderness
yeah

all you got to do is know how to love her
you've got to
hold her
squeeze her
never leave her

Going to haul out a copy of the first CD I ever bought (the original is long gone) and remind myself why it's just so damn good. 'Dark Side of the Moon' - Pink Floyd.

You might find that interesting , as you get older, the lyrics take on a whole new meaning!:evil:Cool
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.

Yes - Going for the One
Supertramp - Paris
Bruce Springsteen - The Ghost of Tom Joad
