So I’ve jumped forward in time for my next Tangerine Dream outing....................Seven Letters From Tibet is a 1990’s album and comes from a different ear from the earlier ventures I have had into TD.
So here we have a different TD. Aces has been granted to those electronic innovations that the earlier albums suggested could be needed to develop the sound..............We can sample , we can electronic co-ordinate electrically manufactured orchestras. Drum programmers can deal with rhythms ...................
Sounds like we will become a sterile and emotionless band who are just like any other then !
No, the genesis of TD is such that they have never lost the ability to communicate emotion in an emotionless prone medium. The rise and fall, the ebb and flow, the provocation , the teasing of feeling are all there and done with class.
This is a grown up TD who are showing that they are masters of their craft and that they can get an acoustic feel from and electronic guitar. They can bend a straight note and vibrato and block of glass!
They still dream and turn dreams into wakeful fantasy!
