Relax people. Almost through with this Weezer, then I'm back on my own music. Been like a 3 week drought for me. Very painful, but an obligation to Major Purcell. This comes out another good album for the band. To me, these guys have attracted a stigma of a novelty or gimmicky or even juvenile band, but they are much more than that. They have some meat inside those gimmicks. This seventh album debuted at #7 here, and even a #36 in Australia. The leadoff single of I Want You To, only had an impact on the Modern Rock chart, but as I remember, got a lot of play on the video channels, proving once again a good live clip is much preferable to slickly produced videos. By this point in the Weezer catalogue, I have decided I need to expand my Weezer collection, beyond their debut.

just skimmed through your links, think i prefer the opening track to the others on this one.

on "cant stop partying" what is it with the drummer dressed as a rabbit???? why do bands have to do that, it just makes them lose credibillity IMO, though its not as bad as Cee-Lo at the Grammys who had a menagerie on stage with him....love that word "menagerie", its cool!

And yet another good one with this eighth album. The band had left their Geffen label after Raditude. Now on independent Epitaph. Don't see any change that the move made. Still good time rock 'n' roll. The move may be good for the band in that it might get them out of a rut, where the music is starting to be very predictable, but not in a bad way. These boys have that versatility factor (Unbroken, Time Flies). They just don't use it much. Don't know what the stupid album cover is all about. The single off here of Memories only made a move on the Modern Rock chart at #21 with the album peaking at #6. Memories is a great track. Too bad it's associated with Jackass. There are no bad tracks on here, with 3 I love. That last track here is a collaboration between Rivers and none other than Mac Davis. That's a name I haven't heard in awhile.

This made some serious waves in magazine reviews on release in 2006.

Briskly-paced Alt Rock, which is inventive and doesn't lack some neat twists & turns.

Was a bit underwhelmed when I first played this, but it's beginning to slot into place now.

Well, the Weezer fest is over folks. I annoint them a good band. Although it is fun sometimes to listen to an artist from start to finsh, I still prefer my random selection method. More fun to not know what's next. This album falls off a bit from the previous three. Still a good album with one track I love, but three I don't like at all. This is the groups ninth album, and the release was kind of weird. Followed the previous Hurley by about 2 months. Bad marketing in my view. Turns out this is material that was left off of previous albums, some quite old. Not sure how old each track is. That's the problem with mp3 listens. Only the leadoff Turning Up The Radio is the lone standout for me. The last track is a cover of a Toni Braxton song. Quite a decent album for outtakes. It reached #48 on the U.S. charts.
