I think it's because of the message it contains - which is basically about belief (in yourself).

![]() In preparation for seeing Roger live tomorrow... In my view this is the zenith of recorded music. Most will be familiar with the album, and if you're not, you should be. Might listen to RW's The Wall Live in Berlin tonight. AllMusic 4+/5 stars.

Listening to and watching Frank Zappa's 'The Torture Never Stops'. Has the somewhat amusing song title 'Harder than your Husband'! Where did he get those crazy titles from....

![]() Kate's first album for 12 years, from 2005. The hiatus years were filled with motherhood and the attendant domestic bliss. Much of this spills over into the album. KB is as mad as a box of frogs on this release, but the writing & recording are of a uniformly high quality. One of her better albums, if a bit barmy... AllMusic 4/5 stars.

![]() MIKE AND THE MECHANICS "mike & the mechanics" 1985,vinyl. #14uk, #36au, #26us. very good debut solo album from the extremely talented Genesis' guitarist Mike Rutherford. two massive US hits on this one and one big hit and a minor hit here in Oz, not really as popular in his homeland of England for some reason, but nevertheless a great songwriter in his own right. Gabriel and Collins had had successful solo outings so i guess Rutherford thought he could try his luck during a Genesis haitus. only two dud tracks on this one, i like the way that his songs have veered away from the standard Genesis sound for the most part...something which Collins has failed to do consistantly. "you are the one" is probably my best pick here, a great ballad, very Lennon Beatle-esque in parts, and of course the two major hits, probably two of the best singles by anyone from that mid '80s period of music. just misses out on a "love" rating for me at the moment...also hate it when there's no link for my favourite tracks! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: a call to arms best track: you are the one tracks: 1. silent running*** #21 uk, #23 au, #6 us http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZL0s-ASd6U0 live 2. all i need is a miracle*** #53 uk, #8 au, #5 us http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5DFNJy0OOyk live 3. par avion* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tJSMuSBsGtQ audio 4. hanging by a thread** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O94HHm_Tu-g audio 5. i get the feeling** 6. take the reins*** 7. you are the one*** 8. a call to arms* 9. taken in** #32 us http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pj1Dh3BNS2Q video 3s=4 2s=3 1s=2 rating: 2.2

![]() ELVIS PRESLEY "viva elvis, the album" 2010,cd. #48 US, #19 UK, #48 AU. another one of those Cirque Du Soleil remix album to coincide with their live circus acts. The Beatle one called "love" they did several years ago wasnt too bad(i dont own it)....but being an Elvisphile im a born sucker for anything with his name attached to it. actually thought this one might have been a bit better than it is purely from the fact that astute businesswoman and Elvis' ex Priscilla was involved in the process of this. guess this is ok in the context of seeing the Soleil show but as a stand alone remix thing it just dont work. some of the tracks have been put together quite cleverly, but nothing here is as good as the JXL remix of "a little less conversation" or the follow-up "rubberneckin" remix several years ago. "Cant Help Fallin' In Love" gets a touch of a gospel feel towards the end which is surprisingly good though and probably my top pick here slightly ahaed of "suspicious minds" which is also quite respectable. a duet with Jessica Mauboy in "love me tender" is totally cringeworthy, posthumous duets should not be allowed! Nat and Natalie was pretty good, as was the Beatles two from 'anthology', but it should stop there! I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: love me tender best track: cant help fallin' in love tracks: opening intro 1. blue suede shoes* 2. thats all right** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=morsLw6aGrc audio 3. heartbreak hotel* 4. love me tender* 5. king creole* 6. bossa nova baby** 7. burning love* -'memories interlude' 8. cant help fallin' in love** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QuYI2Z55jrw audio -'youll never walk alone interlude' 9. suspicious minds** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e-NDXtDUcGQ video 10.love me tender(with Jessica Mauboy)* 3s=0 2s=4 1s=6 rating: 1.4
