Do you listen to music mostly with headphones ?

I try to listen through headphones, because you can zone out more and enjoy the music. When listening at home through speakers, I always find other distractions and can't always enjoy the music.

For me. genre plays a big part in how best to listen to something. Claissical, Progressive stuff like Early Genesis, Tangerine Dream, Floyd, Oldfield, or even Dream Theater are great with 'phones on, where other styles are best through speakers and loud, more closely approximating a live perfromance.
The environment you listen is also a huge factor. On a walk through the woods, Lemmy blasting from a boom-box probably doesn't work well...

Headphones through my DAW, with a plug in called Redline Monitor from the company 112db. The advabntage of this is that you are listening on headphones but simulating a speaker environment which leads to less ear fatigue and yet still provides the detail that headphones do. It's all done using head-related transfer function calculations. How it's done I coudn't tell you but it works well. For 'normal' (i.e. background) listening a set of Yamaha nearfield monitors on my desk with custom mountings.

DAW - Digital Audio Workstation...if have no idea ? Does this system with the Redline Monitor increase what you can hear externally?I can still hear external noises (fairly loud mind you) with my headphones on as I don't really have them blasting ! Trying to get my head around(no pun intended..lol) the fact that it "leads to less ear fatigue" ? What is meant by "head-related transfer function calculations " ?...something to do with your physical head movements ????...lol...I don't know but interesting enough to investigate !

I feel like to listen music on headphones because I don't like any disturbance while I am listening music........

It depends on where I am and who I'm with. If I don't want to disturb the rest of the family (e.g. at 1 AM when I can't sleep) then I use headphones. If I'm alone in the house I rig my laptop (the device I most often use to listen to music) up to our front room speakers (four PA speakers with extra base...sweet :]). These are also the speakers I use when listening to vinyls.

If I'm in my room I usually rig my laptop to my amp. I never use my laptop speakers as theyre awful. If I do have to use headphones I use the large, padded DJ variety, I only use small headphones if I'm out and about (you get strange looks walking round with large headphones....and they don't fit under a motorbike helmet).

oh and I never listen to vinyl via headphones. Even the best headphones don't really cut the mustard to my ears. I usually wear headphones when recording and editing my own music but thats usually to stop feedback and to not irritate the neibours Smile
