![]() Or as I like to call it, Who Is Sharon Robinson And What Did She Do To Leonard Cohen? On the album cover, full production credit, plays all the instruments, co-writing credit and performs on most of the tracks. Problem with the performing is, unlike previous Cohen albums where the sultry female vocals are the landscape to a portrait of a couple making love, Sharon is usually dueting with Leonard, spoiling the visual of the couple making love. Leonard didn't need duets on a studio album. I think this is my first LC album I did not love. Still a couple of nice tracks in A Thousand Kisses Deep and In My Secret Life. With 5 likeable other tracks and 3 that give me a headache, this is only a mediocre LC album. Sorry, he should have hung it up after this one. Recording that is, not performing. He's a legend, in my own mind, and I'd like to keep it that way. Hey Leonard, you don't have to give away the farm, when you're gettin' the milk for free. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - The Land Of Plenty Best Track - A Thousand Kisses Deep The ponies run, the girls are young, The odds are there to beat. You win a while, and then itâs done â Your little winning streak. And summoned now to deal With your invincible defeat, You live your life as if itâs real, A Thousand Kisses Deep. Iâm turning tricks, Iâm getting fixed, Iâm back on Boogie Street. You lose your grip, and then you slip Into the Masterpiece. And maybe I had miles to drive, And promises to keep: You ditch it all to stay alive, A Thousand Kisses Deep. And sometimes when the night is slow, The wretched and the meek, We gather up our hearts and go, A Thousand Kisses Deep. Confined to sex, we pressed against The limits of the sea: I saw there were no oceans left For scavengers like me. I made it to the forward deck. I blessed our remnant fleet â And then consented to be wrecked, A Thousand Kisses Deep. Iâm turning tricks, Iâm getting fixed, Iâm back on Boogie Street. I guess they wonât exchange the gifts That you were meant to keep. And quiet is the thought of you, The file on you complete, Except what we forgot to do, A Thousand Kisses Deep. And sometimes when the night is slow, The wretched and the meek, We gather up our hearts and go, A Thousand Kisses Deep. ![]() This was a 1990 debut for a side project from Kim Deal (of the Pixies), and Tanya Donnelly (of Throwing Muses). Definitely contains elements of both bands, which is a good thing, but somehow misses the x-factor of either. A good album of Alternative Rock songs, but no more. The AllMusic review rates this as better than either the Pixies then-current album Bossanova, or the Muses then-current album Hunkpapa, both of which I'd rate well above this. AllMusic 4+/5 stars.

![]() Their second from 1991. Indie Rock featuring drum machines and liberal use of samples, lyrics heavy with wise-ass puns, but leaving room for some genuinely poignant sentiments, all pumped up with some Punk energy & attitude. Very good album, and a welcome blast from the past. Madness didn't make dancey, Punky music, but if they did... AllMusic 4/5 stars.

![]() Kristin's seventh, from 2003. This woman can do little wrong for me. The album is one of her acoustic ventures, featuring just voice, acoustic guitar, and the occasional piano. The usual, oblique lyrics blend beautifully with her idiosyncratic guitar style. KH is never less than interesting... AllMusic 3/5 stars.
