How did you first find out about your favourite band(s) ?

My story might differ a bit from some, as I was not allowed to listen to radio music when I was growing up. (Mennonite) So the way it was for me, I snuck out and went to my older brother's house and listened to his CD's. Wink So really, my favorite singers and bands still stem from those first CD's I listened to. Fond memories I guess! It was country music, and some of them were: Brad Paisley, Diamond Rio, Alan Jackson, George Strait, Faith Hill, Leanne Womack, etc. Most teenagers now think those are oldies! Well I guess Brad Paisley is still younger than some. I now have my own radio and CD's, but I still love some of those oldies :-)

My favorite music is the stuff my parents listened to, so I've known it all for longer than I can remember.
I don't know if I would consider my parents special people, we don't get along, but I associate the music with familiarity and memories.
My admiration for all my favorite music only continues to grow. Much of everything from my favorite bands I've listened to so many times I don't really want to listen to anymore, but I still love it all.
I explored their music first from burning disk's from other peoples' collections, and then buying the rest.
Sadly, the few bands I have seen live have never been any I've ever called my favorite.

My attitude has changed. I'd say my favorite band ever is Mazzy Star but there's lots that I love so much (I hate to act exclusive to Mazzy Star). I used to only associate that band with my mom, but now I hear it and think of the song itself and I've listened to them so much I know all the words to all the songs that sometimes it's actually rather boring to hear it again...but they're still my favorite.

My favorite is Billy Joel. I liked his songs since my dad would play them all the time. I didn't know a lot of them were his songs until I watched him live in concert.

My favourite band is The Pretty Reckless. I knew Taylor Momsen from Gossip Girl and is really into her. So I find her rock band.

I only discovered Tim Buckley around a year ago, after I found Scaruffi's website. That's actually where I've found most of my favorite artists. I found another one of my favorite bands, Nirvana, because I read Cobain's biography in school

it was just amazing. i was 15 when i heard about bmth (old one) and then i was just like whoa, i don't even know he's singing but it kicks ass. so, i started to look at their lyrics and noticed them to be pretty emotional, but thats not why i started to like them. i looked more of that kind of music and i heard suicide silence. yeah, they kicked ass much more. as first, i hated being called "emo". but after that, i figured that every music is emotional. after few years (now) i keep searching for deathcore bands since they are so underground and i want to spread it out. or in finland, it is underground. others are more emotional than others, but still, the way their hearts is in this music, is just amazing. so, i didn't find out my favorite band, instead of it, i found my favorite "genre".
