Make Money being a musician

Jerome Wrote:Seriously though - one of the things I like about music is the fact that it is passive (or can be). Means I can do something else but still have it on in the background.

Here is a shot of my livingroom...

...I can't passively listen in THAT!

Looks just like my kitchen! But it's climbing over the drumkit to get into the bath that's really getting to me.

Meant to ask - can you play piccolo or any other exotic type woodwinds (shakuhachi etc?)

Sadly no, but on the bright side, at least I don't look like this when performing

24789!!!! Hey that's my social security number. God , and I have hair too! This is turning out to be a great day. One for the record books!

Jokes aside, I will be in touch shortly with some flutey bits and we can see how it works out. Funny thing is, when I was in school, my teacher, a certain Mr Sleigh, Pinelands North Primary School, Pinelands, Cape Town, South Africa, asked me what I wanted to be. I said a drummer. He said I should listen to Gene Krupa......he was right!

Internet music promotion is a good way to generate extra money for your business. But, when it is done in the proper way,you put in less hard work and better work to make a great amount of extra money on the internet.Great websites to start with are different social network websites. Uploading your music and videos to these websites will give you a great chance of being discovered. While promoting your music you do not have to stop on using just one or two social network websites. In fact, you can use a lot of them as well as it will be even better to do.

Marketing on the Internet is a great way to promote your music and get exposure. But whether you are promoting online or offline, its important for you to have a written marketing plan to help guide you on how you can attain your goals and what you need to do next.

Us old farts who are pumping cholesterol pills because we ate all the good stuff when we were younger.

We had no choice years ago when we bought a vinyl 45 or 33 and a half rpms. We had to be very cautious in what music we bought and the radio did justice by playing singles over and over until we just had to go out and buy it ! It was our playlist so to speak. We could actually stack a few 45s on the record player spindle and wow we had a 20 minute playlist. When we bought albums the same was true, only the we could get a 2 and a half hour playlist !...if two albums didn't drop down the spindle at once or if the player arm didn't stick at the end...lol

The big problem then aslo was the fact that we pretty much stuck to the music that is now referred to as Classic Rock since we had no FM radio in the sixties to find out about " alternative " music !

We've come a long way baby since then ! Today it's pretty difficult to buy music and take it home and say ----There's only one good song on this damn album !!!...lol

That reminds me , I have to take my cholestoral pill and then have a nice snack of nuts and lettuce !.....yummy or get a PIZZA...no eat the nuts and lettuce.,,,,,,

Lets be clear about this - unless you have a BIG marketing machine behind you there is no money in recorded music. Everybody wants it for nothing. The recording industry is dying a slow death. In Soho most studios now concentrate on VO's and TV/film work. It's just not viable for them to do live recording work anymore.
