Antipop-Primus
I've always found the title a bit ironic. It's alot more normal and pop-sounding than their earlier works. It's also probablytheir best

![]() LEONARD COHEN "songs of love and hate", cd. firstly, i never really heard much Cohen until MH started posting his albums some time back, then i had the opportunity to listen to him via the youtube links provided. i then bought a double best of set as an introduction to LC and was instantly taking a-back by the quality of his lyrics, so i Pm'd MH and got him to recomend an album to purchase and this was the first one he said i should get. its taken a while but ive finally heard it a few times and can make a fair judgement on it! the album is quite sparse musically, has brilliant thoughtprovoking and meaningful lyrics...all with a sense of warmth, yet cold, yet emotional at the same time. now LC is and has never been a singer, and like Dylan relies on strong lyrical content to get the message that he is trying to convey through to the listener. its a great album for listening to in the dark with headphones on so that your entire concentration is on the songs. although im not gonna rate this a 2.7 or 2.8 like MH would it does get a strong 2.1 as a fairly new discovery for me. I LIKE THIS ALBUM tracks: 1. avalanche *** 2. last years man ** 3. dress rehearsal rag ** 4. diamonds in the mine *** 5. love calls you by name ** 6. famous blue raincoat ** 7. sing another song ** 8. joan of arc ** 3s=2 2s=6 1s=0 rating 2.1

This is a Long Drive for Someone with Nothing to Talk About-Modest Mouse
MM before they hit popularity. Frankly, I think they were way better that way

I agree... a little fame tarnishes some groups because they want to appeal to a wider audience which translates to more money.

I've been digging this Japanese hardcore punk/jazz fusion album called Aramate Mashite, Hajime Mashite, Midori Desu. Have no idea what the band's name is, but holy **** is this album good. Literally everybody must hear this, now. Seriously, check this out, it rocks

![]() ok, this review is going to be against what every other review ive read thinks about Nirvana.... sure, i can appreciate the fact that "smells like teen spirit" became a vocal/focal point for disenchanted youth in the 1990's...and at least the kids hooked up with a real band than boy/girl bands and auto-tune crap, but at the same time i dont see what all the hoopla is about these guys and grunge in general, maybe im just too old and somewhat set in my ways? but i have always thought that Nirvana would not have been thought of in such high esteem had Cobain not died tragically at such a young age...in fact i rate their spin-off band Foo Fighters in higher esteem! ....i dunno, maybe our parents thought the same of The Sex Pistols and Punk in general also, back in the day??? that said, there are six good songs on this one IMO and six that i dont like but regardless of that i still rate their "unplugged" album as one of my favourite albums ever, due to the fact that Kurt's vocals are in the foreground and his feeling and emotion can be heard clearly. and yes, i do like this album, but only just, but that said its hard to knock these guys or Pearl Jam for spawning a generation of musicians and bands! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: territorial pissings best track: breed tracks: 1. smells like teen spirit** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=R3XIGon2RjY live 2. in bloom* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=an92P4KNu4g live 3. come as you are** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NJqQf5DObtY live 4. breed*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ee6xkwVucIE live 5. lithium** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=USZzH1L6nKU live 6. polly*** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IPSYplu_3fA&ob=av2n live 7. territorial pissings* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d_UQWjx3HRo live 8. drain you* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rvEL4pbR6S8&ob=av2n live 9. lounge act* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7xeasq05zxc&ob=av2n live 10.stay away* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3YtH2rjrfaI&ob=av2e live 11.on a plain** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eRmXh_OIwHU live 12.something in the way* http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XOAd7tDM8f8 audio 3s=2 2s=4 1s=6 rating: 1.7 NB: i must admit these 'live' links are far better sounding than the studio versions and had this been a 'live album' im pretty confident that the rating would have been higher!
