When you listen keep in mind that this album came out in 1984. They have a new one coming out on the 9th of Sept. called 'One Bullet Left'. The first track is The One You Left Behind http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PZ08pGJefgc
Second track is Back on Trail

I like the first one very must but the second seems sort of weak. We will see how good the whole album is later this week.

Alice Cooper's "Welcome 2 My Nightmare", produced by Bob Ezrin, with great players and some help from Desmond Child. It really does sound like it was done as a sequal right after Nightmare, not 35 years later! That is, I promise you, a very good thing!

On the laptop.
Their debut, from 1992.
Always liked that iconic cover photo (if you can like something like that...).
Rap-Metal crossover that's outside my usual comfort-zone. Although reared on Metal, I don't afford the genre much attention these days. The aggression in the music doesn't do a great deal for me as a rule, although this album is definitely of interest, for some reason.
Mrs Tiggi won't like this much !!
AllMusic 4+/5 stars.

Helrunar - Frostnacht (2005)
German black metal band Helrunar. Amazing sound of hard metal, acoustic guitar, violins and German narration. All songs are in German which IMHO adds to the dark ambience of the album. And yes there are death growls but the music takes over as this is not a boring album ! Like other Helrunar albums, their musicianship is so incredible that the albums move fast and are highly entertaining !

I believe "heavy metal " music, for lack of a better word, has been hard done by recently !
Opeth, Agalloch, Steve Wilson and now Buffalo Witch.... just skimming the surface here.... are highly trained musicians brimming with exciting new creative musical ideas....I forgot Devin Townshend (Canadian by the way !!!).

Guitar wizard's second, released in 1990.
There was some talk on MD concerning Vai recently. Unfortunately I don't have a very high opinion of his music. He's an undeniably supremely gifted guitarist, but most of what's on this disc just bores me. Music for musos...
I've always held that technical proficiency invariably leads to dull product. That's obviously an over-exaggeration, but as a principle i don't think it's that far off the mark. Technical expertise seems to be inversely proportional to creativity ?!
Don't like this disc much at all. IMHO Satriani does this sort of thing so much better.
