mtthwibrahim Wrote:Wrong Cale album, you should have gotten "Paris 1919". That album is a masterpiece. Really, I don't use that word lightly, there are very few albums I'd call masterpieces, and that's one of them
Not the wrong Cale album. I already have Paris 1919...

i posted that i bought this on remastered cd last week....
have the vinyl which has been worn out over the last 30yrs so its good to hear this in all its clarity....great beats, riffs and sax work on this one, probably my favourite Stones album ever and IMO went down very quickly after this one.

On the laptop.
Their third release, from 1972.
Didn't get on with their debut when auditioned via We7 recently, but persevered with this one. Have to say, I don't like this one any better. All the worst trappings of Prog are on display; daft time signatures, daft lyrics, and horribly dated vocals.
Not for me. Gentle Giant are erased from the Buy List.
AllMusic 4+/5 stars. The fawning AllMusic review is hilarious BTW...

One of my favorite Alice albums, but I have a lot of favorite Alice albums, and couldn't pass up a $5 price tag on cd to go with my vinyl. The groups third album and still that raw power that he could deliver in those early years. The first major hit with the anthem I'm Eighteen. No I wasn't eighteen, but close. Think I had just gotten married, so I knew what I wanted. Alice's first hookup with legendary producer Bob Ezrin, who made him a household name, in my house anyway. The album was the first to hit the charts at #35 here and #28 in the UK. Made Rolling Stones 500 greatest at #460. In the states, I'm Eighteen made #21, but my favorite is the eery Ballad Of Dwight Fry. Theatrics had taken center stage in Alices act, and he wore it well for a number of years.
I LOVE THIS ALBUM
Worst Track - Hallowed Be My Name
Best Track - Ballad Of Dwight Fry
Mommy where's daddy he's been gone for so long do you think he'll ever come home
I was gone for fourteen days I coulda been gone for more
Held up in the intensive care ward lyin' on the floor
I was gone for all those days but I was not all alone
I made friends with a lot of people in the danger zone
See my lonely life unfold I see it every day see my only mind explode since I've gone away
I think I lost some weight there and I I'm sure I need some rest
Sleepin' don't come very easy in a straight white vest
Should like to see that little children she's only four years old old
I'd give her back all of her playthings even even the ones I stole
See my lonely life unfold I see it everyday see my lonely mind explode when I've gone insane
I wanna get outta here I wanna get outta here I I've gotta I've gotta get outta here
I I gotta get out of here I gotta get out of here I gotta get outta here I gotta get outta here
Ya gotta let me out of here let me outta here I gotta get outta here I gotta get outta here
See my lonely life unfold I see it everyday see my only mind explode blow up in my face
I grabbed my hat and I got my coat and I I ran into the street
I saw a man that was choking there I guess he couldn't breathe
Said to myself this is very strange I'm glad it wasn't me
But now I hear those sirens callin' and so I am not free
I didn't wanna be I didn't wanna be I didn't wanna be see my lonely life unfold I didn't wanna be
Leave me alone I didn't wanna be don't touch me see my lonely mind explode when I've gone insane

Songs of Leonard Cohen-Leonard Cohen
Wasn't sure whether to post this in the folk/world music board or here. Whatever, lovely album from arguably the greatest poet in music, perhaps the best he's made. It or "Songs of Love and Hate"
