I like music to be exciting, dangerous, and unique. That's where my love of avant jazz and punk rock come from. This means music which is harmless like the National is automatically rubbish in my eyes. I don't dislike them because they're especially bad, but because they're just so safe
In my little list making way......
Nine Inch Nails Closer from The Downward Spiral http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ccY25Cb3im0 Talking Heads Once In A Lifetime from Stop Making Sense http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-io-kZKl_BI Smashing Pumpkins 1979 from Mellon Collie And The Infinite Sadness http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V6fQ2pgWQV4 Yeah Yeah Yeahs Maps from Fever To Tell http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wR9GiA7Hg_A My Bloody Valentine Only Shallow from Loveless http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Lf8j1bUgwJ8 MGMT Electric Feel from Oracular Spectacular http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fUzL1rfzJD8 Cage The Elephant Ain't No Rest For The Wicked from Cage The Elephant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wHzJzcgx5WA Young the Giant My Body from Young the Giant http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-Hpq6P3ySW8 Band of Horses The Funeral from Everything All the Time http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UPW8y6woTBI These are some that I enjot listening to when in the mood.

Speaking of one of my favs also. what are you listening to lately in avant garde jazz...do you know if there are any new avant garde jazz artists out there besides AEC and Sun Ra, etc....???? mtthwibrahim Wrote:I like music to be exciting, dangerous, and unique. You have to hear Martina Robert's "Coin Coin Chapter 1". The best jazz album since "Bitches Brew"!
