Very odd progressive rock album. Quite good, very much worth the time of somebody looking for new, interesting music

This band never grabbed me the way it did most. Only thing I have and I guess the earlier stuff is supposed to be better. This is their fifth album and there are two tracks that I love and two that did nothing, with the rest just passing, making it a fair album I guess. Just not enough to have made me pursue their work. Georgia band formed in 1992 that fits closely into the grunge area I think, on the harder tracks. Others of course disagree. I won't go there. Once again a group who rode the waves of their debut hit, Shine, never to reach that pinnacle again. I guess the feature on this one was supposed to be the guest spot with Sir Elton on Perfect Day. Didn't do much for me. The album did reach a respectable #22 here, with no singles hitting the main chart. This was the groups last album with Atlantic, and their least successful. Their still kicking though.

if so then they must be popular there as they are having their record launch party for its release on 24th October 2011 here in Perth????!!!!

No I don't believe it's released here yet according to my music store sources . I surfed various sites and their new one is getting good reviews....however some critics think the singing is too pure...but I love that !!!!...nice change !!!!

These so called metal bands are not IMHO really metal....they create such a vast array of different music styles that their music has no boundaries and therefore it is too complex and varied to lable it with a specific "genre" IMHO. It defies classification...it's that good !!!! an example for me is Voyager along with countless others,,,Steve Wilson solo (Porcupine Tree), Opeth, Agalloch, Dream Theatre, While Heaven Slept etc....

Link above puts Voyager at number 2...must be something to this !!!????

The Meaning of I (2011)


VOYAGER have for a long time, been close to my favorite Aussie prog band, but now with the release of the simply stunning THE MEANING OF I they have gone straight to number one. This is one of the best and most unique progressive metal albums I've heard in a long time and deserves to be right up in the top area of this list.
