Soundtrack to Barbet Schroeder's movie, released in 1969.
One of the newly released 2011 remasters.
The bands' first venture into soundtracks - they'd make one more for the same director in another three years - and whilst this is largely a collection of songs, there's some soundtracky music as well.
The music is something of a crossroads for the band: there's a bit of whimsical stuff a la Syd, there's a bit of their Psychedelic jamming, plus some early signposts for the more Folky direction they'd explore during their next couple of albums. A couple of songs Rock like few in the Floyd repertoire, The Nile Song, and Ibiza Bar.
Not a pivotal Floyd release, but there's still some quality music here.
AllMusic 2/5 stars (Unnecessarily harsh IMV).

two Pink Floyd listens above....to be honest i never liked either of those two album, mind you i did listen to them back in the day when i was sixteenish and havent bothered to revisit them...even both UK singles hits "arnold layne" and "see emily play" did nothing for me back then....maybe its just the Syd stuff i dont like!

I haven't been a fan of the Syd stuff in the past, but have become increasingly drawn to his input over the years. Piper at The Gates of Dawn is justifiably judged a classic IMHO.

i guess with the fast amount of music in your collection that we all will listen to what you do at some point...
by coincidence i had Dani's PF "delicate sound of thunder" on this morning so i guess we scored a hat-trick between us
