What Are You Listening To?
from my library (vinyl)

Now that's just down right weird. My listening selection is random. Yesterday I do a Kenny Rogers & Dottie West
review, and happen to mention a Conway Twitty & Loretta Lynn duo. Next day, random selection in the same box, what
comes up? this album. If the next selection from there yields a George & Tammy album, I'm freaking out. This album
comes out a bit stronger than Kenny & Dottie's effort, but if you're gonna name the album after a track on the
album, at least pick a good song. Got 4 love tracks out of this one, along with 2 clunkers. Best of the loves, I
Still Believe In Waltzes, sweet. The title track was the loser for me. Not a good way to lead off. Get's better
pretty quick though. The album didn't even come close to the Kenny/Dottie's #1, #28 on the country charts, is all
this could manage. Two singles of Lovin' What Your Lovin' Does To Me (#7) and I Still Believe In Waltzes (#2).
Conway/Loretta wins this battle of the duos for me. The public thought otherwise. Glad I'm not the public. I'm
bettin' a George & Tammy album would take 'em both down easy.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Two's A Party

Best Track - I Still Believe In Waltzes

(Loretta)
I pushed him away and carefully said Im just not htat kinda girl
You might think I'm square
But you've been around in the ways of the world
I know that making is taking for granted
Its all easy come ,easy go
He pulled me close ,whispered, now darlin theres something I want you to know

(Conway)
I still believe in waltzes ,and girls with old fashioned ways
I still believe in love songs, and the good, in the good ole days
I've always liked happy endings, somebodys dream coming true
I still believe in waltzes and dancing the last one with you

(Loretta)
He slipped into bed,I turne dover and said
Im worried your working so late
Is it just your job
that keeps you away,Lord
I know the temptations are gray
Im just a wife,Im just a momma
Its not too exciting I know
He pulled me close and whispered those same words that night long ago

(Conway)

as much as i love Loretta and Conway as solo artists, i find it hard to listen to them as a duo for some reason unknown to me which is really frustrating...for me their "louisianna woman, mississippi man" is their best duet...or is that "louisianna man, mississippi woman"....i dont know, i can never get it the right way round??!

much prefer your track 3 to your track 8 MH....but agree with the dress thing...that said she looks a lot like June carter in the track 8 performance

A gift from my brother. Glad he's keeping score. I'm already lost. Pay dirt this time. I love this album. Never
heard of this girl and seven albums in the can. This is the third. May want to dig deeper on this one. Australian
born Kasey Chambers, rock/country/bluegrass/pop, all rolled up in a nice little package. And that's just one album.
Love 5 tracks out of the 14 here. Couldn't decide on a favorite, until I saw the live clip for Pony. Sewed it up. A
classy girl no doubt. Well, except for that nude thing she did. Emmylou would be proud. She has done some gigs with her, along with Lucinda Williams. She sounds like either of those artists, depending on the track. Kasey's 1999 debut album won her the ARIA award for
Best Country Album. I guess that's the equal of our grammy. Not unknown here in the states reached #31 on the
country charts. Totally slipped by my radar though. Didn't sell as well as her previous album here, which remains
her best selling. This one did hit #1 in Australia, with 3 singles showing up, of which Pony fared the best at #10.
Nothing I didn't like on this album. As feared, not many clips available for this one. At last they had my favorite.
Many thanks for this one mate.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Stronger

Best Track - Pony

When I grow up I want a pony
I'm gonna ride her from dusk til dawn
I'm gonna brush her mane
And feed her sugar cane
And keep her in safe from the storm

If I had a pony
I wonder could I be your girl

When I grow up I want a baby
I'm gonna name it after Ralph Stanley
And I sure won't mind when it cries all night
Just as long as it looks like me

If I had a baby
I wonder could I be your girl

Yodelay he yodeloh oh
You rock my world
Yodelay he yodeloh
When I grow up I wanna be your girl

When I grow up I want a cowboy
With dust all over his jeans
With a horse named Jack
And a ten-gallon hat
He is nice but looks so mean

If you were a cowboy
I wonder could I be your girl

Yodelay he yodeloh oh
You rock my world
Yodelay he yodeloh
When I grow up I wanna be your girl (ah ha)

(music interval)

When I grow up I'll be a lady
All my rings will be made of gold
I'll put flowers in my room
I'll wear perfume
I won't listen to rock n roll

If I was a lady
I wonder could I be your girl

Yodelay he yodeloh oh
You rock my world
Yodelay he yodeloh Yodelay he
When I grow up I wanna be
When I grow up I wanna be
When I grow up I wanna be
your girl

when i grow up i want a pony
when i grow up i want a baby
when i grow up i want a cowboy
when i grow up i'll be a lady

....and keeping score!

ARIA(australian record industry association) is the equivelant of The Grammy's..so you are Quite correct MH.

"bluebird" or "pony"...i cant make up my mind which one i like best....dont really matter as its a superb album...probably the same(ish) score i would give it also.

all i have of Kasey is this one and her latest one released earlier this year....you got a copy of this one because i rate it higher than her latest, but only just.

...and no thanks required MH, as you opened your house and hospitality to me, of which i will never forget!

One of the too many Patsy compilations. Nothing against Patsy, great voice. She just wasn't around long enough to have much of a catalogue. A total of 3 studio albums. But what is out there is all good. Don't know that I've heard a bad Patsy Cline recording. Only one hit that I know of on this album, from 1961, the #1 I Fall To Pieces. Love 3 other tracks too of That's My Desire, Faded Love and I Love You So Much It Hurts Me. Patsy wasn't here long but she left us some great music.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - South Of The Border (Down Mexico Way)

Best Track - I Fall To Pieces

I fall to pieces
Each time I see you again
I fall to pieces
How can I be just your friend

You want me to act like we've never kissed
You want me to forget, pretend we've never met
And I've tried and I've tried but I haven't yet
You walk by, and I fall to pieces

I fall to pieces
Each time someone speaks your name
I fall to pieces
Time only adds to the flame

You tell me to find someone else to love
Someone who'll love me, too, the way you used to do
But each time I go out with someone new
You walk by and I fall to pieces

(I fall to pieces)
Each time someone speaks your name
(I fall to pieces)
Time only adds to the flame

You tell me to find someone else to love
Someone who'll love me too, the way you used to do
But each time I go out with someone new
You walk by and I fall to pieces

to be honest with you, i prefer his Gospel music and 1970s country tinged tracks over his 1950s r&r...i think he truly showed his vocal range to its fullest when singing those two genres of music.....
