not for 5 albums, unless it's a really good price.
I'd stick with a compilation.

ok, MH, its a boxset for $20....same as the Zevon,Chapin ones i got?!....still worth it?

"HUNTERS & COLLECTORS" "hunters and collectors" 1982,cd. #21 AU, #14 NZ

debut set from these Aussie music icons from the 80s and 90s...
touches of Krautrock/New Wave mixed with some 'funky' basslines. also similar to the stuff Talking Heads was releasing in the early 1980s(Remain Into Light) specifically!
only one single off this one, the seven minute epic "talking to a stranger" which peaked at #59 on the charts here
half the tracks are ok, the other half sound like crap and havent stood the test of time well at all...!
H&C were never a big singles or album seller but had a loyal band of followers on the live circuit..never got to see these guys live but have seen vocalist Mark Seymour a couple of years ago as support act for Elvis Costello...

I DISLIKE THIS ALBUM:

Can never equal those early albums for me, but this 16th album comes out ok. Not many artists can last that long
for me. Four great tracks and four I do not like. Reuniting with the Attractions for the first time since 1986's
Blood & Chocolate, Nick Lowe also shows up here. Mitchell Froom is back at production. Follow up to the out of
bounds The Juliet Letters. His last top 10 there hitting #2 in the U.K. and #34 here. Elvis never was the man here
as he was there. Dumb americans. London's Brilliant Parade is the standout for me with Rocking Horse Road getting
the worst. Singles of Sulky Girl and 13 Steps Lead Down with the former, one of my love tracks.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Worst Track - Rocking Horse Road

Best Track - London's Brilliant Parade

Outside my window
Not long before sleep arrives
They come with their sirens
And they sweep away all the boys
Busy draining the joy from their lives
They never said their prayers out loud
And while I'm dreaming
There's a passing motor car
That broadcasts a popular song
And a girl appears to be saying
"Do you think that I'm going to go far?"

[Chorus 1:]
Just look at me
I'm having the time of my life
Or something quite like it
When I'm walking out and about
In London's brilliant parade

She's one of those girls that you just can't place
You feel guilty desiring such an innocent face
But of course they knew that when they cast her
Along with the red Routemaster
And the film takes place in an MGB
And a perfect re-creation of "The Speakeasy"
Everybody looks happy and twisted
Though she probably never existed
For old times' sake
Don't let me awake

I wouldn't want you to walk across Hungerford Bridge
Especially at twilight
Looking through the bolts and the girders
Into the water below
You'll never find your answer there

They sounded the "all-clear" in the occidental bazaar
They used to call Oxford Street
Now the bankrupt souls in the city
Are finally tasting defeat

[Chorus 2:]
Don't look at me
I'm having the time of my life
Or something quite like it
When I'm walking out and about
In London's brilliant parade
When I'm walking out and about
In London's brilliant parade

From the gates of St. Mary's, there were horses in Olympia
And a trolley bus in Fulham Broadway
The lions and the tigers in Regents Park
Couldn't pay their way
And now they're not the only ones

At the Hammersmith Palais
In Kensington and Camden Town
There's a part that I used to play;
The lovely Diorama is really part of the drama, I'd say

[Chorus 1 2x]

FOO FIGHTERS "one by one" cd, 2002.

probably the worst Fooies album IMO, its far too polished and over produced...far too glossy and shiny for a band so heavy into good raw rack n roll,
not many of Grohl's raw growling vocals here...sounds a lot like a mellow Nirvana in places..plenty of little digs at Courtney Love hidden in the lyrics apparently, but i aint worked them out as to where they are.maybe the overproduction work is because Brian May plays on this album...and we all know how well/over produced Queen's albums were!
although the album is reasonable and a lot of bands would be happy with these songs( and i would be too if they were left alone with instead of studio suits twiddling too many knobs), only one here really stands out as a great FF track and that is the worldwide smash hit "times like these"...one of their best songs ever IMO, just a shame its surrounded by tracks without 'balls'!...thank god the boys got their mojo back after this one as i gav up on them after this album until Corey reignited my foo-fires a couple of years ago!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM....but only just!

CROWDED HOUSE - Woodface ...released July 1991

It took a few listens to appreciate the mastery of this album by the Finn brother led band from down under.
Now I can't get enough of this masterpiece!...kudos with many thanks to Crazy-Horse for this recommendation. I only had The Temple of Low Men by Crowded House before I bought this gem !

Beautifully crafted melodic rock songs that do remind me of The Beatles at times ,,,,a great straight ahead rock album with excellent song writing by Neil and Tim Finn. The harmonies are terrific ...a very good listen !!!! Fourteen tracks on this clocking in at 48 minutes.

Also Alex Acuna is on this album ...the superstar jazz percussionist !!!!

^ you really must listen to "Together Alone", all of Neil Finn's other works pale in comparison

anyways, now I'm listening to "Heavier Than Death in the Family" by Les Ralliez Denudes, the legendary live bootleg by the influential Japanese avant garde music group. Drenched in so much glorious feedback, distortion, and pure noise
