So what does MD think of the new anti-piracy legislation? Unfortunately I haven't read it, so I don't know to what extent it gives the government the ability to throttle website that link to piracy sites and I'm not sure of all the implications about free speech- but I think it's gonna be really good for the music community... First of all- it'll give musicians money which is definitely a plus, but at the same time I think that making people buy their music is going to make them want to listen to it more, and value it more... Maybe more adults and sophisticated music listeners will start buying albums and the entire market won't be targeting the 12-21 age group... Maybe... Just maybe... we'll have marketing for some decent music other than Justin Beiber and music's glory will be restored!

Yeah, okay. So what do you guys think?

personally, for someone who only buys legit music i agree with any protection artists get from legislation for the fruits of their labour.
afterall, they are ultimately in it to earn a living, however rich they may be.

From what I understand we can all be prosecuted for even sharing links to copyrighted material such as the YouTube videos we are all so fond of sharing here. I'm not thrilled about this.

The war on piracy was lost years ago..........................sadly greedy recording companies made sure of that.................it would be nice if the money did reach the artists who made it but I know for a fact that that is rarely the case..................so its just another vote winner for the politicians and a chance for them to mussle the comments they don't like too much.......................
Nice to be able to go back to trust and friendship!!!!!!!!!

It's a mixed up sensation this being alive
Oh! it wears a man down into the ground
It's the strangest elation
I can't describe it
Oh it leaves a man weary
It makes a man frown.
