Jerome Wrote:Harvest - Neil Young - my favourite of his. So simple, so effective. not my favourite NY album but nevertheless Jerome, your description of "so simple,so effective" sums it up perfectly.

![]() ![]() JOHN LENNON "lennon" 4cd boxset,1990. this boxset was released in 1990 and for the time was quite expensive, thus it failed to make any impact on any albums chart anywhere and was quickly deleted. but can still get the odd copy online...amazon recently had it for well over 200pounds($300 AU/US)...luckily i got this one when it was released. it contains almost all of Lennon's studio recordings as a solo artist...including the full "plastic ono band" and "imagine" albums...the best thing about this set is that there are no Yoko tracks, so on disc 4(which is the one i listened to last night) you get to hear the entire "Double Fantasy" and "Milk And Honey" albums minus the Ono songs which is absolutely wonderful IMO. the actual disc cover of this one is shown above and is the one in the top left hand corner of the four on the right hand side of the page...! this disc(disc 4), shows the talents of a man re-emerging after five years in the wilderness full of hopes, dreams, love, innerpeace and obviously looking foreward to the next stages of his life, but as we all know now, this was to be the final chapter of his short life. just two tracks on here that i do not like and most of which that i love...but i guess we'll never know now just how much more he had to offer the world of music....RIP JOL, you are truly missed! while i have the boxset out, i will be doing the other three discs over the next week or so..... I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: every man has a woman who loves him best track: im losing you tracks: 1. both Lennon and Harrison were great loses to the music industry and music fans all over the world...but whereas George was obviously past his "creative best", i believe John had a lot more to offer when cut down in his prime....just a couple of thoughts though...
1. take a listen to his material on Double Fantasy and then listen to Macca's "McCartney II" from the same year....Lennon totally outshone Paul's effort, always found Paul to rarely put 100% into his albums unless he was pushed into doing so, maybe had Lennon lived then Paul would have made some truly great albums in the 1980s,apart from "Tug Of War". 2. again, had Lennon lived, would we have seen some sort of collaboration between him and Paul...i think so!, or even moreso, and i dont think so but...would the Beatles have actually worked together again either doing the odd reunion show or on record? 3.guess we will never know and its all speculation now, but its nice to dream about what might have been...and they would have put them dumbass Stones back in the shadows where they belong!

![]() Loved these guys when they were popular for the brief five albums of which this is the third. Would have got a love if not for the two instrumentals and the very repetitive track, Voices Inside My Head, which might as well have been an instrumental. Aside from those, five love tracks with Canary In A Coal Mine leading the pack. Recorded in four weeksin the Netherlands. Those were the days. Heavy reggae influence on most of the tracks. Explanation of the album title sounds like what Chris Martin said about Coldplays new one. According to Copeland, it means whatever you want it to mean. It was just something that would roll off of the tongue. What rubbish. The album hit #3 in the US and #1 in the UK and Australia, receiving a perfect score from allmusic. Singles of Don't Stand So Close To Me and De Do Do Do both hitting #10 here with the former winning a grammy for Best Rock Performance. Also a Best Rock Instrumental grammy for Behind My Camel. The Police had arrived. Stings ego had surfaced here as he refused to play on that Andy Summers penned instrumental because he didn't like it. Poor baby. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Behind My Camel Best Track - Canary In A Coal Mine First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect You live you life like a canary in a coalmine You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line You say you want to spend the winter in Firenza You're so afraid to catch a dose of influenza You live your life like a canary in a coalmine You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Now if I tell you that you suffer from delusions You pay your analyst to reach the same conclusions You live your life like a canary in a coalmine You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine First to fall over when the atmosphere is less than perfect Your sensibilities are shaken by the slightest defect You live your life like a canary in a coalmine You get so dizzy even walking in a straight line Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine Canary in a coalmine 1) Don't Stand So Close To Me *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KNIZofPB8ZM&ob=av2n 2) Driven To Tears *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TRc9nsVka_s 3) When The World Is Running Down *** live - The Police -When the world is running down...(live ´82) - YouTube 4) Canary In A Coalmine *** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DxifgnPnC4E 5) Voices Inside My Head * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=d7mB7Opu6s0 6) Bombs Away ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=M6wiWXw3voY 7) De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7v2GDbEmjGE&ob=av2e 8) Behind My Camel * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6bZAErXVSQ4 9) Man In A Suitcase ** live - The Police - Man In A Suitcase (live at Essen) - YouTube 10) Shadows In The Rain ** live - The Police Shadows In The Rain - YouTube 11) The Other Way Of Stopping * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5ayehC1nDkk 3's - 5 2's - 3 1's - 3 Grade - 2.2 so many albums, so little time

good album MH...Canary would be my favourite one here also.
have all of these guys albums, the first four all have some great tracks but get let down by a couple of dud tracks...only one that doesnt have a bad track, as i recall, is album #5: Syncronicity.

I like the track from the same album called in the beginning which leads on from when the sour turns to sweet it is a clear prognosis of the later things that genesis would produce ,particularly in the Gabriel period.
