Jack White news

The White Stripes rocker Jack White says he will debut a solo album on April 24, with entirely new songs written by him and embodying his own sense of self-expression.
"I've put off making records under my own name for a long time but these songs feel like they could only be presented under my name," he said in a statement.
"These songs were written from scratch, had nothing to do with anyone or anything else but my own expression, my own colours on my own canvas."
Recorded in Nashville, Tennessee, Blunderbuss will be the first solo album from White, 36, who gained fame as lead singer, guitarist and pianist in the Grammy-winning two-piece band The White Stripes with his ex-wife Meg on drums.
The band officially split in February 2011 after 14 years together.
The Seven Nation Army singer is also a member of rock bands The Raconteurs and The Dead Weather.

I am looking forward to this. I had a mini love affair with The White Stripes and while I like The Raconteurs I just don't like them as much. Even after seeing them play last year. It was good but I didn't stick around for the whole set. It will be neat to see what Jack White does on his own.

I missed the White Stripes here two years ago....unfortunately. Unique sound with lots of energy from only two instruments !

Like Trace, I am looking forward to his solo project.

Jack White makes very good music in general. His solo work will be so excellent and it will have great quality. Jack White is a genius. I will wait to hear his new songs.

i agree, Jack does make very good music generally...i have all the White Stripes albums, all are pretty good, and only several bad tracks overall.
i would like to see him develop his style a bit more on his solo work and not just rehash what he has previously done...love the way he also gets out there and produces other artists also, got a feeling that when he stops making his own records that he will become a great producer in the same league as Rick Rubin!

That's what he tried to do wth that Wanda Jackson effort, tried to remake her into a rock star, and that was terrible IMO.

yeh i know....it was a terrible album.
what i guess i meant was...he has foresight and a willingness to step outside the square, and the Wanda thing was certainly a bold move, although unsuccessful

I only hope Jack White remains his true self. I know it will be hard because people will him to be so different.

I agree with you. I'm looking forward to seeing what Jack White does on his own. The White Stripes were fantastic, so it will be interesting to see him on his own.
