Pet Peeves
#1
What the hell are they teaching kids in school these days? I just bloody hate it when somebody says, 'He did that 'wrongly'. The word is INCORRECTLY!!! THe grammar on blogs and the web in general is atrocious.
Another one that gets my goat is when somebody calls an instrumental piece of music a 'song'. Songs have words/lyrics, which are sung - that's why it's called a song dummies!

Hey Jerome, in a previous Pet Peeve thread I stated the exact same thing regarding song versus instrumental ! It's always been that way as far as I remember and it's downright stupid...there are words in a Song and none in instrumentals !!!!...duh ..lol !!!

Another pet peeve is the neglect or low participation in the thought provoking MD Forums - Best Album, Classic Album, Beginners Guide, Weekly Album Review and the newly created MD HALL of FAME !!!!!

As for today's grammar I had to tell someone the difference between the words too and to. They wrote I went too that concert to.

the same as you guys with Grammar that kids today do not know and the way they replace it with all that LOL,OMG,BTW talk they use in everyday life.
the lackof "quality" education all over the world. kids today know nothing about anything IMO,no geography, history, basic knowledge stuff, and dont even get me started on mathematics, hell, they cant add up or subtract without the aid of a calculator...

oh hell, you guys got me on my soapbox again....

then we get onto modern music, i hate this throwaway society in general, but itunes has done it for me,people download a song to hear while its a hit, then delete it and buy the next 'big thing', what happened to 'cherishing' music in the form of the old 7" singles/cds and albums in general

i guess the fact is that no-one cares about the simple things anymore...

and photographs, we all used to have photos, now its all digital imaging, people take 'em on their phones etc upload the only copy to FB etc then delete them when theyre finished with them, our kids and grandkids are going to suffer in the long run as they willhave no "family history" to look back on when they are older

now onto personal peeves...

too many commercials on TV during first run movies,
buying albums that only end up having a few good songs on them and/or the singles are the only thing on the album with any sort of melody or tune,
auto-tune
albums that fill up space with remixes or hidden tracks
the price of cigarettes
taxes
politicians who 'cant recall' their election promises, or can but blatantly disregard them when elected
Stephen King novels that either dont have a ending or something stupid happens at the end which puts a downer on the whole story without explanation from the author
stepping in dog crap
this summer..four months of extreme heat!
my ex!
people who hide behind religion to justify their bad behaviour
war
people who start 'peeved off' threads in which i get peeved off replying with my peeves!!!!

That reminds me of the girl who was on a televised general knowledge program. She was asked the question - 'Which significant political event occured in Dallas in 1963?' Her answer - 'I don't know I didn't see that episode!'
