What Are You Listening To?
Picked up the Acacia Strain's second album - "3750". Acacia Strain is a Hard-core Metal band with tonnes of blast-beats (ridiculously fast snare & bass drum combinations) and breakdowns (change up in tempo and usually thrashing guitar when dancers can thrash about) . The guitar makes my teeth feel like they will rattle (yep, this is a good thing for me).
Not for everyone, a very good album for me. Intense and uncompromising!

SOUNDGARDEN "badmotorfinger" cd,1991.

this one could have gone in alternative also as these guys were also very "grungy", but i feel this one's guitar sounds have more in common with Black Sabbath and to a lesser degree Led Zepplin, Sabbath for the deep heavy sound and Zep's for the riffs....
look, never been a fan of these guys, maybe i got this one because i liked their 'black hole sun' single from 1990...not sure, but that would sound riht to me.
Chris Cornell's vocals are fine, he has a good rootsy/bluesy feel to them and he has the strength there also, but something about these guys i simply do not like, cant quite put my finger on it though, same goes for his only other album i own in his solo set "carry on".
the opening track "rusty cage" is brilliant IMO but the album goes down hill from there with half of the remaining tracks only getting the dreaded "*".
these guys were never huge on the charts but did have a loyal cult-like following throughout the world.
not sure why but allmusic give this one a converted 2.7, my score is only slightly above half that...dont like it, dont care if this one doenst make its way onto my player in the next few years...

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

DISTURBED - Believe (2002)

Disturbed is an American hard rock band from Chicago. They are possibly one of the most popular hard rock groups in the world. Their second studio album Believe skyrocketed them to the top in 2002 with sales of over one million units. Believe is not an album of disturbed music ! The album features accessible pure hard rock with high energetic songs and good rock ballads. I have played this album several times and it never fails to please !

AIRBOURNE "runnin' wild" cd,2007. #21 AU, #62 UK, #106 US.

debut set from Aussie hard rockers Airbourne.
very much in line with fellow Austalian rockers AC/DC.
group got their breakthrough after releasing their debut "ep" in 2006, someone from Capitol Records in the US picked up on it, offered to fly them to LA and record an album, picked up by both Rolling Stones and Motley Crue the same year to tour the US/Canada and Europe with them...
cant find any chart entries for their singles from this one except in Canada, where the album never charted but the did manage a Canadian #1 hit with their debut single "runnin' wild"...bit of a surprise actually, but hey i guess the Canadians do have some taste when it comes to music...
allmusic rate this one a converted 2.1, so i guess im not too far off the mark with the pro's over there!
