I just downloaded a grab-bag of Joanna Newsom. I'm at a point with music that "anything different is good". Her music is completely original, and that is a rare thing indeed.

Not much out there on this 70's rock band. This is their fifth of six albums. Kept waiting to hear something great,
didn't happen. Kept waiting to hear something bad, didn't happen. Just some all good rock 'n' roll. Band surfaced
in '71 on the A&M label. After two albums ended up at Beserkley. Never many artists there but they did give us Greg
Kihn and one of my favs, Jonathan Richman. They are the backing band on Jonathan's classic Roadrunner in 1974, and
Greg shows up on some of their recordings. The label was so small that artists often helped each other out in the
studio. The band started on the San Francisco club scene in the late 60's and provided some financial backing for
creating the Beserkley label after a lawsuit against A&M records gave them some cash. That was over the illegal use
of their music in some third rate film. So much fun learning this stuff. A couple of decent covers with Emma (Hot
Chocolate) and Kicks (Paul Revere). The rest is original material. They never hit the big time but they made some
decent albums. Think I have two others besides this.

Going to spend the day absorbing JT's 'Thick as a Brick 2'

update - this is bloody great! Not just an old band cashing in on their past glories - this is vital and happening. Very impressed so far (about 10 minutes in)

I used to play PAAE over and over. Then 'Works' came out and I haven't played it since.

Conclusion: If you are a Tull fan - get it! If not - don't - because you won't 'get' it. It's that simple.
