The Washington state bands fifth album, and first for me. Thought it would come out a bit higher. Suffers with that sameness label I think, a lot of piano based soft rock, which doesn't vary much. Bought this after hearing I Will Follow You Into The Dark on some tv show. Don't remember what it was, but it was one of those death bed scenes. I was mush by the end of it. If that wasn't enough, the real life scene, sitting in the hospital room, watching my sis die of cancer, I was singing this to myself. Obviously I chose not to follow sis at that time. I'm sure she made it ok, and I'll see her when it's time. A couple of other death related tracks here also. Only one other track I love, Crooked Teeth. Two I don't care for, rounding it off to a like. The album got them two grammy nominations and went platinum, reaching #4 on the chart. Surprised to see that the song I mentioned did not even make it on the pop chart. Only one that did was Soul Meets Body. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Stable Song Best Track - I Will Follow You Into The Dark Love of mine Someday you will die But I'll be close behind I'll follow you into the dark No blinding light or tunnels to gates of white Just our hands clasped so tight Waiting for the hint of the spark If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark In catholic school, as vicious as Roman rule I got my knuckles bruised by a lady in black And I held my tongue as she told me "Son fear is the heart of love" So I never went back If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark You and me Have seen everything to see From Bangkok to Calgary And the soles of your shoes Are all worn down, the time for sleep is now But it's nothing to cry about 'cause we'll hold each other soon In the blackest of rooms If heaven and hell decide that they both are satisfied Illuminate the no's on their vacancy signs If there's no one beside you when your soul embarks Then I'll follow you into the dark And I'll follow you into the dark. 1) Marching Bands Of Manhattan ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Se4NBz5N_SA 2) Soul Meets Body ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uizQVriWp8M&ob=av2e 3) Summer Skin ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f-QtYDwqqHE 4) Different Names For The Same Thing * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W_x0Hel7eoY 5) I Will Follow You Into The Dark *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rePcHxFJIuU&ob=av2n 6) Your Heart Is An Empty Room ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oYSHvMqQ6Q 7) Someday You Will Be Loved ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=neXaFUmiV3g 8) Crooked Teeth *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ar1_tEg4Nxs&ob=av2n 9) What Sarah Said ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NQuVudn1-RE 10) Brothers On A Hotel Bed ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iZWZo-rnciE 11) Stable Song * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pGH_DCTR6bI 3's - 2 2's - 7 1's - 2 Grade - 2.0 so many albums, so little time

A gift from a mate. Second album from the Aussie siblings. Six EP's in their catalogue. What's up with that? Pretty big down under with this one going #1 and getting them ARIA awards for album and single of the year(Big Jet Plane). No such luck in the states where the album or single never charted. Very nice laid back sound, trading lead vocals on most alternating tracks. Both work in that respect with Julia having a sweet sexy voice (reminds me of Melanie). What makes a womans voice sexy? All in the ear of the dirty old man I guess. Big Jet Plane is my favorite, with other love tracks of Black Crow, Santa Monica Dream, and I'm Yours. One of those stupid hidden tracks at the end on here which I almost missed. After track 13 ended normally, laid the headphones down. Then about a minute later, noticed the timer thing was still moving. Dumb asses! Sorry, one of my music industry peeves. Very nice album. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - On The Road Best Track - Big Jet Plane She said, hello mister Pleased to meet ya I wanna hold her I wanna kiss her She smelled of daisies She smelled of daisies She drive me crazy She drive me crazy Chorus: Gonna take her for a ride on a big jet plane (X2) Hey, hey Be my lover My lady river Can I take ya Take ya higher Chorus: Gonna take her for a ride on a big jet plane (X4) Hey hey Gonna hold ya, Gonna kiss ya in my arms Gonna take ya, Away from harm (X2) Repeat Chorus: Gonna take her for a ride on a big jet plane(X4) Hey hey 1) Hold On ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=c0VKlQl5fOc&ob=av2e 2) Black Crow *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FlJYPBTyqU&ob=av2e 3) For You ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7XZy2r11ygI&ob=av2n 4) Big Jet Plane *** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-lkNPnKnzIA 5) Santa Monica Dream *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xrfVaPNMCM8&ob=av2e 6) Yellow Brick Road ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fTF-RadkIKo&ob=av2n 7) And The Boys ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RUDc1frz22E&ob=av2e 8) On The Road * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDzvSQhTd0s 9) Walk It Off * video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=i4E5S95URNw 10) Hush ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TnqKPPfMM3U 11) Draw Your Swords ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ceup8anv94A 12) I'm Not Yours *** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uj1AOKUPYTY&ob=av2e 13) The Devil's Tears ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=m5S8x6PnyGw 14) Old Friend ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1a4nOjhQpq0 3's - 4 2's - 8 1's - 2 Grade - 2.1 so many albums, so little time

Daydream Nation-Sonic Youth
A long time favorite I've since forgotten about. My obsession with the Fall has been getting back into a lot of bands of these types of early indie music. You know, stuff like Pere Ubu and Wire. This album is phenomenal

Third and last album from this one hit wonder Texas band, and the hit is not on this one. The hit Breakfast At Tiffany's came from their second album, Home. Although this is their last one, the group has not officialy called it quits, just on a long 11 year break. They still perform on rare occasions. The found brothers of the group, Todd and Toby Pipes have been involved in producing local Texas acts for some years. Maybe they find that more rewarding from an artistic perspective. Doesn't sound like a full reforming is in sight, as the four members have taken different career paths. They did make some decent music as a group with one standout for me on this album of Hell In Itself for which there is no clip. Nothing here sounds like the hit single from the previous album, which leaned more to the pop side. That may have been a fluke they wanted to avoid. Tracks here are much more of an alternative sound. Softer tracks had some Connells sound for me, and others maybe some REM. Just scrapes by after that one love track, with three I could pass on. A single of She Is was released which failed to chart as with the album. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Burning A Past Best Track - Hell In Itself Everything just right, sugar and old spice Under the thumb for the last time now He exits his old cell There's a priest casting old spells Then he takes the walk On his way down, Vinnie turns around And he says If you never love then you never live And that's hell in itself 'Cause we all will be judged By the love that we give, don't lie to yourself Those were the old days Intermittent with old ways Take the risk with the blame Even he knew that his old lady's upstate Does her best just to get straight Still cries everyday Now that Vinnie is gone We carry on and we say If you never love then you never live And that's hell in itself 'Cause we all will be judged By the love that we give, don't lie to yourself 1) Military Man ** video - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kewzSe6meB8 2) So Precious ** 3) She Is ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tmhny7oUOjk 4) Burning A Past * 5) Higher ** 6) Number One ** 7) Hell In Itself *** 8) Who Wants It * 9) Focus ** 10) Park Bench * audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x1zHT67pacI 11) Page Me Wolverine ** 12) Enough To Get By ** 13) Beautiful Nightmare ** 3's - 1 2's - 9 1's - 3 Grade - 1.8 so many albums, so little time

16 Lovers Lane-the Go Betweens
One of those supposed "80s inndie classics" I'd yet to hear. That's been my thing lately, so how about it. Pretty songs with great lyrics

LANA DEL RAY "born to die" cd,2012. debut set from New yorker Del Ray....not bad IMO, some nice atmospheric tracks, a couple of absolute great ones and several dud tracks...and that sums up the album perfectly...not consistant one way or the other, forget that "video games" song and all the hype surrounding it, it aint that great and there are several more worthy of more merit that that anyway...i have never seen a video of Lana, just took her songs on face value from the radio and obviously from the cd...her video's/clips do nothing to enhance the songs one iota! overall, the music is quite atmospheric, the lyrics at times thought provoking, but again...her vocals do not vary enough say, like Adele or Florence's do to hold my attention fully over the twelve tracks on offer, thus i had to listen to this in two sittings which means this may not be as good as the rating score gives it and certainly does not have the staying power of the above two mentioned artists, i doubt that this album will ever grow on me, and is more than likely to become less likeable over time....but i currently like this one.
