One of the most distinctive voices in music ! I loved his raspy voice.... The Weight/The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down....among other Band songs! He will be missed immensely!

yes RIP Levon...always sad when someone dies, but i aint gonna miss The Band's music,thought they were grossly overrated, famous IMO simply for being Dylan's backing band on Blonde On Blonde...
did love The Weight song, but not their version of The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down...infact reviewed their "best of" set here a couple of weeks ago,came out ok, but not overly great for a best of collection IMO

Never thought The Band were a great band
Certainly a good band.
Was appreciating Levons country side more of late.
Solo albums were nothing like The Band.

Had never heard Levon Helm before. Listened to the above song and can't say that it's really my taste, but still, RIP Levon.
