all i have is a best of set from Steely Dan...absolutely love that collection, most of those old tracks still sound fresh today(a sure sign of classy music IMO!)

BOB DYLAN "blood on the tracks" cd,1975.

i tend to have a love/hate relationship with Dylan...either find him to be brilliant or abysmal with very little inbetween....the sort of artist who IMO can make three or four real bad albums then come back with an absolute classic...Neil Young does that also IMO,that aside, both His Bobness and NY are rated as the two greatest wriers/influences in popular music beside Lennon/McCartney.
pretty damn close to being my favourite Dylan album("infidels" would be my favourite i think)...
they say great albums are made when the artists are under duress/stress, and this is no different,...in the throws of a bitter divorce i believe?!

so hard to pick a favourite off this one also...big toss up between Tangled Up In Blue,Simple Twist Of Fate and Shelter From The Storm from this one,but im going with the latter on this occasion. likewise,hard to pick one to be classed 'worst track' as this is a great album...call me an idiot but this time its "idiot wind"!

just finished listening to their "best of" set....still not a big fan of them though...

the thing that bugs me about Smoke On The Water is that whenever i go into a musical instrument shop to get picks/strings for my guitars there is always someone in there playing the opening riff of that song...they are playing it with power chords, yet it was originally played by DP fingerpickin' the notes....dont these so called guitar players know what theyre doing when they play the opening riff??!!
by the way...such a powerful riff,yet so simplistic...thats how rock n roll should be IMO!!!
