THE WHO "who's next" cd,vinyl 1971.
this is,without a doubt, the Who at the top of their game IMO, sure Tommy and Quadrophenia are brilliant, but this one is ALL class....
contains their pennultimate track "wont get fooled again" and their greatest quietest moment in "behind blue eyes".
cant criticise this one at all in any way....just pure rock and roll at its finest by probably the most underrated UK band ever, i mean underrated in the way that they were always living in the shadow of The Stones and The Beatles when they made as many great songs...
this deluxe edition contains seven bonus tracks, that are either previously unreleased ones,b-sides previously unavailable on cd,and atlernative version of "behind blue eyes" and a live track, good thing about the bonus ones is that they do fit in with the album and not just simple add-ons to callit a "deluxe version"....great stuff!
this album makes me want to don my fishtailed parka and Lambretta again...."we are the mods,we are the mods,we are, we are, we are the mods!"
I LOVE THIS ALBUM

all inclusive rating: 2.5 have this deluxe version as well CH. Worth every penny. I have never quite figured out your rating system for albums but this one gets 10/10 from me. One of the last real rock albums to be made before all that 80's lot arrived with their hairdryers and cosmetic cases.

Going to have a stab at Alan Parson's 'A Valid Path' today. Not quite up to his earlier albums but it does have it's moments. His son has a big part in the production of this.

LOL....
ok, any album that score 1.0-1.6 is one i do not like, 1.7-2.3 i like, 2.4-3.0 is a love album....
this one gets 2.7 for the original,2.5 with the extra tracks...
the idea is to score each track as "***" love, "**" like, "*" dont like....MH and i then add up the stars awarded, then divide that score by the number of tracks giving an overall score out of "3.0", i guess if you say 3.0 goes into 10 3.33 times then you times our scores by that 3.33 to give a score out of 10...thus:
when you multiply this one's 2.7 by 3.33 you get 9/10....thats about as good as it gets, as i dont think any album is worthy of a completely perfect 10/10 really, theres always something i can pick with it if i really wanted to be awkward
its just a bit of fun really mate, nothing too serious, just gets us listening to each track as a seperate entity on its own merits i guess??!!

VELVET UNDERGROUND & NICO "velvet underground & nico" cd,1967.
guess this debut set from VU is one of those supposed 'landmark' albums in rock history like PF's "dark side",Pistols "bollocks", Beatles "sgt.peppers" etc etc...\
personally i dont see it, yeh its good, but not that great IMO....
pretty hard to describe VU or Lou Reed in general but they were original with their sound and lyrics back in the day describing the seedy side of life...
probably my favourite Reed album after "new york" and love the vocals on the non Reed tracks here...im assuming they are by Nico, whoever that is?
I LIKE THIS ALBUM

The song Do Ya by Jeff Lynne and The Move before ELO !!!!! The Move are worth checking out...very good songwriting!!!!!

ELECTRIC LIGHT ORCHESTRA "all over the world:the very best of" cd.
what can you say about Jeff Lynne and Co.?.....
classy,classy rock n roll from the 70s and 80s!!!
all their major worldwide hits are on here and a couple of dud tracks, the worst of which is their version of the song they wrote for Olivia newton John which was the title of that abysmal movie from the early 1980s...Xanadu, i love Olivia's version, but ELO's sucks big time!,sounds flat,it doesnt say, but ive got a feeling it was just a demo version and they stuck it on here thinking fans might like it....wrong move guys!
that aside, very little wrong with the grandeous, pompus, over inflated rock that is ELO...legendary stuff IMO.
as a footnote, i did read an interview with john Lennon which was done shortly before his untimely death in 1980 and he stated that....this is what the Beatles would have sounded like if we'd have still been around!....high compliments indeed from the second greatest songwriter/performer in rock history!
