What Are You Listening To?
i have 'baby talks dirty' on 7"vinyl, bought it purely on the strength of the previous years mega-hit 'my sharona', huge huge letdown

thought they had a bit of talent, so not sure why or how they didnt have at least three or four hits before dissapearing, must have been the 'beatle' merketing thing, wouldnt have gone down well after Lennon's death in the same year....

A gift from a mate and once again moved to the top of the "new" stack. Don't think I like this as well as
others here have. A good album with three love tracks and one that fails. It will certainly be a grower
and more listens will probably push it to a love. Of those love tracks, my mate went for Tin Angel, but
you know I have to swing to the country sounding title track, one of those epic in length (14 minutes)
Dylan story classics, retelling the tragic fate of the Titanic. I've always had a passion for the long
Dylan tracks and this album is no exception. Bob's voice has really gotten raspier over the years. Now he
sounds more like Tom Waits than early Dylan. This release is 50 years after that first one and 5 years
after his last album of original material. The one I don't care for is Early Roman Kings, which is too
much like any other blues standard. Nice tribute to John Lennon to close it out. Guessing the album has
already peaked, which was #3 in both the UK and US and #8 down under. I still have a few holes to fill in
my 35 studio album Dylan cd collection, but this gift makes it one less. Thanks Lloyd. Roll on Bob.

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

Bob's nineteenth album and his first after becoming a born again christian. Yes the religious injections
are plentiful, which was a turn off for many. Didn't bother me. Much better than the work leading up to
Blood On The Tracks. The christian nature of the album probably alienated a lot of existing fans but may
have drawn in some new ones. The album has made the list of The 100 Great Albums In Christian Music.
Nothing I don't like and love five of the nine tracks. Single of Gotta Serve Somebody won Dylan a Grammy
for Best Male Rock Vocal Performance. He had become a fan of Mark Knopfler who has a guest spot on the
album, along with Dire Straits drummer Pick Withers. That's the only names I am familiar with. Recorded in
Alabama's Muscle Shoals studio after some L.A. rehearsals. The album was another hit for Bob, going #3 in
the US, #2 in the Uk, and #1 in Australia. Only one clip available, what a surprise.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

interesting CH ! Do you consider Macca's latest Kisses on the Bottom good ? I do even if it is mostly covers. As for Neil, Psychedelic Pill is very good !!!!!

no SteveO, i do not like "kisses on the bottom"....his worst album ever IMO...

my comments were stated in a way that meant, regardless of what they do now-you gotta respect their longevity....

back to Macca...
over his fifty years in the game as a recording artist i could count all his bad albums on one hand(magical mystery tour, yellow submarine, speed of sound,kisses...)
maybe one or two others, and all the singles i dont like on two hands(maybe)
