![]() MGMT "oracular spectacular" cd, 2007. debut set from these guys...still not sure what the title means at all, same for the band name???? pretty sure this one was recommended to me by either Tiggi or Music Head, or maybe both of them...not sure???? i see these guys as a cross between 1980s electro-pop,prog in places, slight psychadelia, but most of all similar invein to Muse. i dont even know what the singles were from this one, so i have no idea what made this so popular in the charts... all-up though, not a bad album, will eventually get a 'love' rating from me, but not just yet,its still growing on me... I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: 4th dimensional transition best track: pieces of what tracks: 1. time to pretend ** 2. weekend wars *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vPEhXPsS8Rw live 3. the youth ** 4. electric feel *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MmZexg8sxyk vevo video 5. kids ** 6. 4th dimensional transition * 7. pieces of what *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sIUJLP7ZtDs live 8. of moons, birds and monsters * 9. the handshake ** 10.future reflections ** 3s=3 2s=5 1s=2 rating: 2.1 or 7/10

![]() STONE TEMPLE PILOTS "core" cd,1993. debut set from STP.... these guys have always been slagged off in the music media for being Alice In Chains and Pearl Jam rip-off's...yeh, sure they have a similar sound in places but you could pretty well say that most artists sound like someone else if you want to be pedantic about it.... i like this album, its raw, its ragged and its edgy and heavy, love the vocalist's vocals, almost as powerful as Dave Grohl's.... i have another of their albums....it has a star adorning the cover...called "4" i think, i dont like that one much... best track?...even though there are three love tracks here, two are neck and neck as they pass the winning post, i cant really split the heavy opening track called 'dead and bloated' from the excellent grunge-ballad "creep" further down the list of tracks, i suggest you listen to both to make up your own mind... I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: no memory best track: 'dead and bloated' or 'creep' tracks: 1. dead and bloated *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Rdu9apXE2W4 audio 2. sex type thing ** 3. wicked garden ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=soRQlZ98-C0 live on letterman 4. no memory * 5. sin ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Np7AHqhfHs audio 6. naked sunday * 7. creep *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=67XeyhUj4ik live 8. piece of pie ** 9. plush *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V5UOC0C0x8Q video 10. wet my bed ** 11.crackerman ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V-m5i56NsiQ audio 12.where the river goes ** 3s=3 2s=7 1s=2 rating: 2.1 or 7/10

![]() Right about the time I got into Richard & Linda Thompson, they broke up. So I went the solo route. Polydor had just dumped Richard for lack of success, but it didnt take him long to find a new label (Capitol). His sales would not fare much better there, but at least it's a new start with fresh promotion. This is an ok album, with one love track and one terrible track. Richard's album sales would pick up in the future. The guy is still out there and has a loyal fan base. This one charted at #89 in the UK and #192 in the US. Turning Of The Tide was released as a single but did not chart here. It may have elsewhere. I LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Reckless Kind Best Track - Waltzing's For Dreamers 1) Turning of the Tide ** - solo gig live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=THkeSeWg0eI 2) Gypsy Love Songs ** 3) Reckless Kind * 4) Jerusalem on the Jukebox ** 5) I Still Dream ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OxfLr5AOVKQ 6) Don't Tempt Me ** 7) Yankee, Go Home ** audio - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FRN3J-tsnE 8) Can't Win ** 9) Waltzing's for Dreamers *** - just how it sounds on the album, beautiful live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W9-lAOdQrGo 10) Pharaoh ** live - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KRtTkBdATS0 Grade - 2.0 allmusic - 2.4

![]() LISA MITCHELL "bless this mess" cd,2012. Lisa's second album(i dont have the first one....yet?!) a strong recommendation from Tem back in october-ish.... pretty hard to describe her vocal quality but Kate Bush-cum-folk is the nearest thing i could say(maybe someone could enlighten me further on her???) lots of catchy tunes here, not that that is a bad thing.... Lisa was originally a contestant on "aussie idol" back in 2006...they(the producers) wanted her to not play guitar, not do original material etc etc....so she told them to 'get stuffed' and walked out even though she made it through to the final six....and the rest is history, gotta admire the girl for standing up for her principles IMO!!!! i urge you guys to listen to a few of these tracks, you wont be dissapointed!!!! all up a very good album from a girl/woman of only 22years of age, am looking foreward to hearing her debut at some point! I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: better left unsaid best track: the story of the raven and the mushroom man tracks: 1. providence *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VqjPZXC5uY8 audio 2. so much to say ** 3. spiritus ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nxtxjE_TDoM video 4. the land beyond the front door *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5aYKNLEAzww audio 5. the story of the raven and the mushroom man *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6Mvj8Rvo1_g audio 6. bless this mess ** 7. better left unsaid ** 8. the present ** 9. walk with me *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0j-IblBjNbM audio 10.you pretty thing ** 11.diamond in the rough ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6cyfd9NpGRI audio 12.i know you're somewhere ** 13.-hidden untitled track- ** 3s=4 2s=9 1s=0 rating: 2.3 or 7.7/10

Good for her not falling prey to the vultures of manufactured 'stars'. She will still be going long after the others have all disappeared. The LAST thing they want is an artist who can think for themselves - i.e. someone they cannot exploit. Go girl.....
BTW - don't think she sounds like Kate Bush at all but she's a dead ringer for Suzanne Vega!
