^ Is that you, Catrina, or one of your kids that has the NME ?? I used to love it to death, but it slowly became more & more irrelevant to me...
Calexico - Carried to Dust
Americana which is very pleasing on the ear.
I kept thinking this sounded a bit like Giant Sand, and lo & behold, I've just found out that their bass player used to be in Giant Sand !! Clever me !!
Having said that, it's a complete fluke, as there was nothing familiar about the bass playing...

The Rev. Peyton's Big Damn band - The Whole Fam Damnily
This is another CD stuck in my hand at work. I would describe it as punked-up acoustic Blues/Country/Bluegrass. Quite good.
But get this. I'd never have bought this album. On reading the CD booklet it dawned on me that the female washboard player, Breezy Peyton, used to be a member on the previous incarnation of this forum. Went under the handle Washboard Breezy, didn't stick around for long, but it's definitely her.
What are the chances of that happening ???

The Sisters of Mercy - Floodland
An old Gothic favourite. They (He) were very successful in their day, then just fizzled out. I think they should record some more !!
Why? - Good Friday
Perfect fusion of indie and hip hop. Anticon is the shit.

Mary Margaret O'Hara - Miss America
Lush, gentle, gorgeous music with touches of Jazz and Country. O'Hara has a beautiful voice, but twists and fragments her vocal lines into something really unusual.
This is an all-time favourite of mine, so comes with a strong recommendation.
Listening to this was interrupted for an hour by a power cut !!
