What Are You Listening To?
Jerome Wrote:This is just the best. All those talent shows can stop looking. Here's the real deal. Scroll down to 'Great musical couple at the gas station' http://www.shareablefun.com/

saw this last week
I agree
they were very good and entertaining

then they had to blow it by showing up on Leno's show live

the spontaneous gas station gig was what made it good

Did not see part 2 - only the gas station episode. Hilarious.

THE WHO "tommy" cd,1969

i have the vinyl, but this is the newly remasterd SACD(whatever that means) cd version, from all the reviews ive read Pete Townshend did a brilliant job at doing this one and cleaning it up for the SACd release...im not sure as i never heard previously released cd versions of this?!?!
anyway, Rock And Roll's first so-called 'rock opera', it has some flaws IMO, but asit was the first of its kind the Who had nothing to compare it to back in the day...
some of thiese tracks(well, probably over half of them) have no life whatsoever outside of this album ie:they would make no sense at all, but in the context of what it is, this is a brilliant piece of work about a deaf, dumb and blind kid who was molested by an uncle(wicked uncle ernie) who went on to become a wizard on a pinball machine even though he had obstacles in his life, and his journey through those and subsequent 'healing'...
much of this storyline, according to Townshend's autobiography, was based on experiences he had growing up in London, and writing the rock opera was his way od coping with his shame and confusion during his own childhood...
look, its totally impossible to rate this album with a score based on a song by song score because, as i said, these songs would, and do not, stand up well on their own, but together they make one hell of a concise piece of music...
great, great stuff, and i believe anyone who loves music should have a copy of this on their collection...

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

I'll rate it for you CH. Perfect! BTW he did write a mini rock opera before this called 'A Quick One' Having said that I think Quadrophenia was just as good.

First off, I gotta get my plug out of the way. Two albums where Al Kooper plays with Mike
Bloomfield, both masterpieces. Super Session and Live Adventures Of.....,get them. This one,
not as good as those, but a nice album, just missing my love score. Didn't sell well, so not a
well known album. Love the mans work with BS&T and this seems like a carry over from that. Some
bluesy numbers, but not straight blues other than that worst track (it's an instrumental). Four
love tracks, with the r&b flavored Anna Lee taking down the top. Two Stevie Wonder covers on
here are good efforts. Same for a Harry Nilsson cover. I guess I was in the mood for this
album. This being Al's second solo effort. I always wanted to get the first, but never did.
Love the cover of this album also, a shot of the Detroit riots at the DNC convention in 1968.

TEDESCHI TRUCKS BAND "revelator" cd,2011.

Florida based blues rock husband and wife outfit...
formerly both performed seperately in their own bands..The Derek Trucks Band and The Susan Tedeschi Band...both bands dissolved in 2010 and they formed the band Tedeschi trucks Band...
Debut set for these guys as a duo, osrt of a loose blues sound happening here, could definately imagine the great Otis Redding tackling several of these tracks had he benn alive to do so...
album won Grammy for 'best blues album' in 2011 also....would never had got this had it not been for the insistance of Corey over a period of a couple of months, and so glad he did persist with nagging me, very good album, and im not a bluesy type of guy!
