ALAN PARSONS PROJECT "eye in the sky" cd,1982. #1 AU, #7 US, #27 UK
APP's sixth studio album and their biggest seller also....
look, im not a fan of Prog Rock and the rating here will show that, bought this one on the strength of used to love the title track back in the day...
Christ, i dont even love that one anymore, just like it...
simple fact is, i cannot get into Prog rock at all(sorry Jerome, i know you probably love this album but....)
the opening track,an instrumental called "sirius", was used by the Chicago Bulls back in the Michael Jordan days as their introduction to their pre-game introductions, so i guess AA made a lot of money off the use of that track...
I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

No sweat CH - each to their own. I am not particulalry fond of the album anyway - prefer their earlier stuff. Having said that I do have a soft spot for the very last track 'Old & Wise'. (mainly because a lady I dated many moons ago was VERY accomodating after I played it back at my place)

speaking of not liking Prog Rock much...my next two albums for posting are:
Pavlov's Dog "at the sound of the bell"
Roger Waters "amused to death"

I've never heard Pavlov's Dog. 'Amused to Death' is a weird album. Don't play it very often. Jeff Beck does some scorching guitar work on the album. And no...I'm none the wiser -just older.

never heard of Pavlov's Dog or just that album???, becuase "pampered menial",their debut set, is brilliant IMO,well worth checking out if you have time to do so
"amused to death"...i actually like most of it from memory, just the samples that puts me off most of his stuff though( i know it adds to what he is trying to express, just think it is too much sometimes)..but we'll see if i still like it in a couple of days time!

PAVLOV'S DOG "at the sound of the bell" cd,1976
second album from these guys,
loved their debut set "pampered menial", so this was always going to be a bit of a letdown for me...
whereas the previous album was,IMO, very Jethro Tull folky, this one is a bit more out there, probably a cross between Yes and early Genesis(thats probably as close as i can come to describing this, but dont quote me, im not a fan of either of those groups but they were the first things that spring to mind this time round,
not a bad album overall, nothing i dislike but only a couple i love...

ROGER WATERS "amused to death" cd,1992...#21 US, #8 UK
concept album from Waters, but arent they all???
this one is all about "western society and the influence of tv and the mass media to control people and information"...are you listneing Mr.Murdoch?
nothing on here that stands up against his best works, but still okay IMO....
its a bit confusing in places, a bit annoying also with all the sound-bytes and samples which constantly pop up throughout...
not keen on the female backing vocals neither, they just dont fit the project IMO...
i think Waters started believing the myth that he is "mr.concept" with this one and was trying to be too clever for his own good.
maybe Jerome could confirm or deny this but....i read somewhere that the bassline on "what god wants pt.I" is actually the bassline from "another brick in the wall" played backwards?????
I LIKE THIS ALBUM
