Faces _ A Nod is as Good as a Wink to a Blind Man *****...this album is a rock classic !

ROD STEWART "every picture tells a story" cd,1971

one of Rod's earliest albums...
many people rate this as his best...not me!, to be Frank,i cant see what people see in it...especially when half of the tracks are cover versions...????
'thats all right"...abysmal cover of the Elvis Sun Records classic!, "tomorrow is a long time", a Dylan cover, which i simply dont like by whoever records it(including Elvis!)
"reason to believe"...the classic Tim Hardin song...i do like this one by whoever does it, and it is my pick of the tracks on here...even beating the so-called classic "maggie may",which i like also, but radio still overkills that one down this way...incidently, this song was the a-side to the single with "maggie may" back in the day but i guess radio stations, for reasons known only to them, flipped the record over and started playing "maggie may"...in a not dissimilar fashion to what happened with KISS with "detroit rock city" backed with the classic "beth" also!
a few rockers on here, a few ballads also, but this is probably close,if not, the worst Rod Stewart album i own i think!

I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: tomorrow is a long time
best track: reason to believe

tracks:

1. every picture tells a story *
2. seems like a long time **
3. thats all right *
4. tomorrow is along time *
5. maggie may **
6. mandolin wind *
7. im losing you *
8. reason to believe **

ANOUK IS ALIVE (2006)

[SIZE=2]My gracious and thoughtful daughter turned me on to this incredibly talented Dutch rocker , named Anouk. She first heard her on her last trip to Belgium.
A double disc set with 27 very good melodic rock songs ! I don't think she's ever cracked the North American market. She is extremely popular in her homeland of The Netherlands ! Dutch musicians have done tributes for her !

A great rock vocalist with a very good band ! This is not poppy, it's raunchy rock and blues !

The new stack yields this one. Long over due. I have most of the Byrds studio albums on vinyl,
but had nothing on cd. Any of those albums would be worth having, but I can't afford that. I
settle for compilations. These guys were one of my favs at the time. We didn't have the arsenal
to compete with that british invasion thing. The Byrds gave it a good try. Peaked early with
their first album being the highest charting. This set was first released in '67 and only
includes tracks from the bands first four albums. That still catches most of the hits. This '99
re-issue includes three extra tracks from the same period. Other than the two #1 hits, Mr.
Tambourine Man and Turn Turn Turn, the group never had any other top 10's. Just noticed Leon
Russell plays piano on Tambourine Man. Didn't know that. Four Dylan covers on here, of which I
love every one, but my fav has to go to Eight Miles High. The album on it's original release
reached #6 on the Billboard chart, but never made the boat for the U.K. voyage.

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

Music is not bad but the lyrics and video are weak.
