the early stuff from the bee gees was excellent .. I saw them singing world on top of the pops in 1968
CRAZY-HORSE Wrote:ive never heard this Bee Gees track before, sublime stuff Jerome!

these guys are always overlooked on those 'best of' lists for best songwriters, performers, songs lists....such a shame as they were as good as anyone, even their disco type material was superior to the run of the mill disco from the 70s

BRUCE SPRINGSTEEN "human touch" cd, 1992

The Boss' nineth studio set...part of a companion disc with the woeful 'lucky town' album...
comes in a bit better than that other one, but still pretty lousy for a Springsteen album IMO with four tracks i dont like which offsets the two i do love...
biggest bonus for me with this one is that former Small Faces keys player Ian McLagen plays on a couple of tracks, Bob Hatfield also supplies harmonies to a track or two...
not a great starting point for someone to get 'into' the music of The Boss by any means, but still ok i guess

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: man's job
best track: cross my heart

tracks:

1. human touch **
2. soul driver **
3. 57 channels and nothin' on **

JOHN FOGERTY "deja vu,all over again" cd, 2004

John's sixth studio album as a solo artist...took him three and a half years to release seven with CCR, yet around thirty years to release six as a solo artist!
album reached #23 in the US, but failed to chart bith here and in the UK for some reason!
songs on here are somewhat political in nature often drawing comparisons between Vietnam and Iraq....
different styles on this album also, very Knopfler on "nobody's here anymore", "she's got baggage" very Ramones' sounding, country rock on "rhubarb pie", sort of a disco feel to "radar", and very Hendrix type psychadelia on the final track "in the garden"...which i dont like!
all up though, it is still a Fogerty album and no matter what he does his sound still comes through inevitably!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: in the garden
best track: she's got baggage

1. deja vu(all over again) ***
2. sugar sugar(in my life) ***

BOBBY DARIN "originals album series" cd boxset, 2008

5cd set of five of Darin's studio albums...
this review is of the album cover on the left hand side of the overall cover...which happens to be his self titled debut set from 1958...
to be honest, im not a fan of his earlier material, much prefer his mid sixties bluesy/jazz material.
this one contains his first hit "splish splash"....was a huge worldwide hit reaching #3 on both the US/UK charts and #1 here in australia...man oh man, i hate that song with a passion!
most of this album is okay for late 1950s pop, and some of the tracks do have a crooner/bluesy/jazzy feel to them, he just hadnt honed his craft on the debut though. i was also surprised to find that Darin released five singles off this album with only the formerly mentioned one made the charts, the other singles for your information were "just in case you change your mind", "judy, dont be moody", "i found a million dollar baby" and "dont call my name"...
all up, a very average album from one of the most talented vocalists from that period!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

worst track: splish splash
best track: i found a million dollar baby(in a five and dime store)

tracks:

1. splish splash *
2. just in case you change your mind **
3. pretty betty *
4. talk to me something **
5. judy,dont be moody *
6. i cant go on **
7. i found a million dollar baby **

8. wear my ring **
9. so mean **
10.dont call my name **
11.brand new house **
12.actions speak louder than words **

Wow, I'm surprised you did not know them Steve as Goddo were popular in Canada in the 70s & 80s. They played straight ahead rock & roll and often mangaed to include an unusual instrumental. I really enjoyed their instrumentals.

One of their Hits was Pretty Bad Boy -
