Vangelis - The City. Seem to be listening to a lot of 'calm' albums today.

David Gilmour - Live in Gdansk - a below par performance from Uncle Dave. Just going through the motions here. Nothing really captivating. Some new tracks, some classic Floyd tracks, but nothing outstanding. Maybe I've just heard these tracks too many times now but earlier versions seemed to have more spark to them.

its called "getting old" Jerome, not so much refering to you, but the artist(in this case gilmour)...ive found that over the years with some of my favourites, they themselves lose the "spark" or "edge" themselves which is only natural i guess, in my case i suspect it is due to...

1.not having to have to do it anymore, but a 'doing it for the fans' mentality
2.having played or sung he songs for so long that they forget the meaning of them

niether of the two reasons mean the artist is actually "losing their skill/craft" but simply, like i stated, lost that intense spark and energy...

my suggestion....simply remember the joys and excitement they they have given YOU over the decades and continue to see them live as a mark of respect for the great memories they have given you mate...

Very well stated Crazy Mate! I watched a recent concert from The Who and sad to hear Roger straining to sing...main thing though the audience loved them!

Mark Hollis - Mark Hollis - this guy was the brains behind 'Talk Talk' which is a really crap name for a band. Sounds like a pop outfit when in fact they had some incredible albums & tracks (The Party's Over, Spirit of Eden, The Colour of Spring etc. etc.). This is, as far as I know, his only solo effort. Very introspective music. I quite like it. Have to be in the right frame of mind for this sort of material. A kind of lying on the bed, lazy afternoon sort of album. Which is exactly what I am doing. I am also enjoying a glass of Chateaux du Plonk which probably means it's going to end up in a falling out of bed kind of afternoon. Ah well, what will be will be.
