ELTON JOHN "the diving board"
i heard this one at the cd store this morning and almost bought it...!
ive been a bit wary of new Elton material for around twenty years now
as he never seems to wuite deliver the goods,except for the one he
did with Leon Russell a couple of years ago, but i need not have worried,
Elton's songs are very good on this one, most of the tracks are ballady type
tracks, the sound,delivery of the songs and the melodies actually
hark bark to his so-called classic years...
that said though, the voice is deeper(more bass tone) than he
used to have, maybe its an age thing???, but he still does a fair effort
and the lyrics are very good, i didnt read the lyric sheet or listen intently
but it appears he is getting very reflrective as he heads towards hi late 60s...
all up, a good album that i almost bought there and then!

I don't think I'll bother...I was actually underwhelmed by his Reunion album with Leon Russell! Can't knock Sir Elton though...still writes good melodic songs! Shame he and Macca never made an album together !...no yet anyway!

It's something they started about a month ago, and it's only a select few new releases that change every week or two. I regularly check Amazon for new releases and first noticed it with Sheryl Crow's new release. Right now it's Elton Johh, Five for Fighting and Chris Young.
