Welcome aboard MD, MalGal! I listen to all kinds of music so it would be virtually impossible to cite my favourites...but I tend to favour the female voice!

However I will contribute a few great ones that I like today!!!!...lol

Celine Dion - The consummate vocalist for me...... her range and power as well as crisp clean vocals always sends chills up and down my spine!!! She has a very distinctive voice apart from so many of today's female vocalists that sound the same!!!.and hey she's Canadian too!...lol

Iris Dement - very good folky country singer with a down to earth style of her own!

Anne Wilson - powerhouse vocalist with her sister and a great band!

Jenny Hval -
avant garde art pop singer of today...quirky and straight rock folk singer,,,fun to listen to!

Marianne Faithful - Girl sounds like she smokes 3 packs a day! Gravelly hoarse voice, unigue and raunchy!

Lisa Gerard - former lead singer of Dead Can Dance...mystical voice that is intriguing!

Lucinda Williams - The voice must be distinctive...her voice is all her own..laid back with a alternative country feel !

Serena Ryder - another Canadian gal! Possibly one of the best interpreters of Leonard Cohen's songs! Beautiful voice...released two number one hits in Canada this year!

Aretha Franklin - What can I say about the legendary Queen of Soul! If Aretha's tremendous pipes don't stir you up then you're dead!!!

and last but by no means the least...

KD Lang - From my Canada again ...Kathryn Dawn's voice is out of this world..I always choke up when I watch her sing her rendition of Leonard Cohen's Hallelujah...simply breath taking!!!!

There are many many more,,,,I'll stop here!

Like with any of the "like" threads, if you wait long enough this list will encompass everything, but it is interesting to see who comes to mind first.
