BOB DYLAN "street-legal" cd, 1978

album chart action: #11 US, #5 AU, #2 CAN, #2 UK.

single chart action:
"is your love in vain?".......#56 UK.
"baby,stop crying"............#13 UK, #70 AU.
"changing of the guard".....no chart action!.

Uncle Bob's eigtheenth studio album...
lots of religious imagery and phrasing here especially on the opening track...but in places throughout the album also...
lovely female backing vocals here, not sure what i'd call them but Gospel isnt quite it,theyre unique, asis Bob Dylan...
album was savaged by the music press when it was released, but what the heck to they know about Bob Dylan, infact, what does anyone know about him LOL!...
was surprised to find that this album is Dylan's biggest selling studio set in the UK...
all up though, a very very good album from the lyrics, the music and even Dylan's vocals are very good here as he really does try to sing

I LOVE THIS ALBUM

JACKSON BROWNE "lives in the balance" cd, 1986

album chart action: #23 US, #36 UK, #37 AU.

singles action:
"for america"......................#30 US, #84 AU.
"in the shape of the heart"...# 70 US, #96 AU, #66 UK.
"lives in the balance"...........no chart action anywhere!
"black and white"................no chart action anywhere!

not a big selling album by Browne by his standards...
its the only one of his i own apart from an extensive compilation set which i love!, i like this one but not as much as thought i would...
lots of socio-political messages happening here in these songs, and Browne articulates his points of view very well..., i probably should invest in some more of his studio material at some point as im sure his earlier studio albums are sublime!

I LIKE THIS ALBUM

YES "big generator" cd, 1987

not a bad pop/radio friendly album from these wanksy-prog rock guys...
i actually love Anderson's vocals on this one, and in parts sounds like he is trying to be a rapper...LOL!
and brass instruments also, never thought they relyed on brass that much, but they do here...
this album wasnt a big seller by their standards and i cant find any info on singles anywhere, but im sure they must have because the title track used to get airplay
here back in the day...
album sounds okay to me, but thats about where my interest in Yes stays, not interested in any more albums by these guys!

well done SteveO....

by far their best studio album, has a very 1960s UK sound to it, and some brilliant story-telling on things like "tube station", "a-bomb", "mr clean" etc etc...
