I think the orchestral sound came from Mike Pinder's innovative use of thr mellotron
Mrrusty1 Wrote:to me the albums from dsays of future past upto and including seventh sojourn were the best although I have all of the albums and they are all good

Barclay james harvest came close in their early recoedings tracks like eden unobtainable are a good example
SteveO Wrote:I agree totally with your assessment of the Moody Blues, J! There was no other band around with such diverse orchestral arrangements in the late sixties and early seventies,,,not even sure there have been bands similar since then????

![]() PANDORA'S BOX "original sin" vinyl 1989 album chart action: #43 Sweden. no chart stats but reached platinum status in South Africa single chart action: no chart action anywhere from my research! an album written and produced by Jim Steinman... a band made up from from various artists who either sang or performed on Bat Out Of Hell... album was released as a double vinyl set but apparently has been released on a single compact disc... typical Steinman stuff happening here, grandeous mini rock opera's, powerful lyrics and vocals, the odd interlude between tracks, a couple of spoken intro's to songs also...very similar to the Meat's "deadringer", and Jim's own "bad for good" albums... Meatloaf has covered most of these songs since then and this album contains the original(and best) version of "its all coming back to me now", made famous by Canadian Celine Dion... elsewhere on here there are two cover versions....one is The Doors' "twentieth century fox", the other is a Bacharach one in "my little red book", i have not heard the originals of those ones so i cannot draw comparisons between them...i like the Burt cover, i wasnt aware "20th century fox" was a Doors song, but i dont like it anyway!... i cannot rate the interludes or the spoken word tracks as they are not techniqually songs, but i like all of them things.. one track on here called "prey lewd" is a piano instrumental which encompasses parts from several tracks from the album... i read somewhere once that Jim Steinamn actually regards this album as his finest piece of complete songwriting, not sure about that personally and with a lack of sales im pretty sure the general public would agree... allmusic give this album a converted score of "2.4"...i cant see where they get that from, but as usual mine and allmusic's ideas are usually poles apart... I LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: twentieth century fox best track: its all coming back to me now tracks: ..."the invocation(spoken word intro) 1. original sin ** 2. twentieth century fox * 3. safe sex ** 4. good girls go to heaven(bad girls go everywhere) ** ..."requiem metal(instrumental interlude)" ..."ive been dreaming up a storm lately(spoken word) 5. its all coming back to me now *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vLdYfx54OIg vevo video(above two tracks) 6. the opening of the box(instrumental) ** ..."the want ad(spoken word)" 7. my little red book ** 8. i just wont quit *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8WSMfe9k8bI audio 9. prey lewd(instrumental) ** 10.the future aint what it used to be ** 3s=2 2s=7 1s=1 rating: 2.1

![]() RINGO STARR "stop and smell the roses" vinyl, 1981 album chart action: #98 US singles chart action: "wrack my brain"..................................#38 US "stop and take time to smell the roses"....no chart action anywhere "private property".................................no chart action anywhere back to the vinyl stack again, and will do so for the next week or so... Ringo's eighth solo studio set.... album fails to live up to the hype of the likes of Macca,Harrison,Nillson,Stephen Stills,Carl Perkins and Ron Wood all being involved with this one... all of the above names wrote tracks here, the best of which is the Ronnie Wood one "dead giveaway" which sounds nothing like Ringo's usually dross vocal tones. interesting to note that Ringo re-wrote his old 1972 hit "back off boogaloo" here and retitled it "back off bugaloo"...he went to see John Lennon just two days before he was shot to work out the new version of this song, John agreed to play guitar on the track, unfortunately, he never lived to provide the finishing touches to the song... yet, again, another dissapointing Ringo Starr album.... at least he didnt dissapoint me when he narrated "thomas the tank engine and friends" tv show... I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM worst track: drumming is my madness best track: dead giveaway tracks: 1. private property * 2. wrack my brain ** 3. drumming is my madness * 4. attention ** 5. stop and take the time to smell the roses ** 6. dead giveaway ** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=plvKeh-HZG0 audio 7. you belong to me ** 8. sure to fall(in love with you) * 9. youve got a nice way * 10.back off bugaloo * 3s=0 2s=5 1s=5 rating: 1.5

![]() Jimi Hendrix â lead vocals, guitar, piano Noel Redding â bass, backing vocals Mitch Mitchell â drums, glockenspiel, backing vocals Artist Recording History studio albums - 3 live albums - 2 compilation albums - 2 ep's - 4 singles - 12 from my library (cd) ![]() The groups second album. Thought it would make that love score. I'm sure I loved it when it came out in 1967. Mind blowing stuff back then. Still I get 4 love tracks out of it, well enough. Of the three albums by the Experience, this is the lowest selling, probably my lowest rated also. Still going platinum and reached #3 on the chart here and #5 in the UK. Released only 7 months after the bands smash debut, under pressure from the label to capitalize on that success. If 6 Was 9 is my favorite here. It wouldn't really natter if 6 was 9 as long as 9 was 6, then you would still have 69. But if 9 wasn't 6, then you would only have a 9 and that could be lonely.
