Supertramp - Breakfast in America - probably one of the finest examples of prog rock meets commercial pop - and it works. Very, very well indeed. Forgotten how good this album was.

Under tremendous pressure from my brother to love this. If not for that throw away Take It Or Leave It, it would have made it. Still a damn good
album for a debut. Never followed up on them, but my brother says I didn't miss anything. Only 3 albums with a 3 year gap between each. Straight
up rock n roll for the most part here, almost a throwback to 60's-70's rock. I can even hear some Beatles/Stones thrown in. Not surprising as
the band lists them as influences along with the Who, Faces and AC/DC. All from the old mans record collection. They even got an offer from the
Stones as opening act on their 2003 Australian tour. Traditional rock band instruments on most tracks which is always good to hear. Billy
Preston gets a keyboard appearance on 2 tracks. Looks like the band is still active but nothing released since 2009. If they show up in the
discount bin, I'm in.

great review and score MH.
have to agree with your favourite track, very Lennon-esque!
the ones you cite as influences...yes, they are easily heard throughout.
and to finish off their "retro" sounds, they even got their name "jet" from Macca's Wings song.
and even a discount bin price for their follow-up albums would be pushing it IMO.
