![]() [/URL] NICK CAVE & THE BAD SEEDS "abattoir blues/the lyre of orpheus" cd, 2004 studio albums: 15 singles: 31 album stats: #5 AU, #11 UK, #126 US single stats: "nature boy"......................................#88 AU, #37 UK "breathless"......................................#45 UK "get ready for love"............................#62 UK "there she goes my beautiful world".....#45 UK another of my xmas giftcard purchases... i bet you guys are surprised i didnt already own this one... well, back in 2004 i wasnt a cave-ophile, and couldnt justify purchasing a double album of material from a guy i only 'liked' and didnt 'love'! this one only sparked my interest when Music Head posted it in his "1000 albums..." thread and he said he loved it, i figured then that if he loved it i would almost certainly love it also! anyway, two discs here, the first entitled "abattoir blues" has a heavy feel to it...very grungy for the most part. the second disc entitled "the lyre of orpheus" is more piano based ballads(did i say ballads?,yes i did!), theres even the odd hint of gospel in these songs on this disc. i think vocally Cave's vocals on this double album are about as good as he ever sounded.. lyrically, this is full of the usual deep, dark foreboding trademark themes that we all know Nick Cave for. its not very often double albums are all class, many fall down with several fillers but like "the wall"(pink floyd) this is all class from the get-go I LOVE THIS ALBUM worst track: easy money best track: there she goes my beautiful world tracks: 1. get ready for love *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aFpamPjDD0g audio 2. cannibal's hymn ** 3. hiding all away ** 4. messiah ward ** 5. there she goes my beautiful world *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8NmR-oKdkGw live(later...with jools) 6. nature boy *** 7. abattoir blues ** 8. let the bells ring ** 9. fable of the brown ape *** 10.the lyre of orpheus *** 11.breathless *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ASWJi06PTyk video 12.babe you turn me on *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FELmPFG4Zlw audio 13.easy money ** 14.supernaturally ** 15.spell ** 16.carry me *** http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TZmbZJW-qq8 audio 17.o'children ** 3s=8 2s=9 1s=0 rating: 2.4(converted to 4/5), allmusic's rating: 4.5/5

![]() Artist Recording History studio albums - 19 compilation albums - 3 singles - 25 from my library (cd) ![]() His 16th album, no chart activity Charting Singles - none The only resemblance to the original classic Night and Day album from 1982 are the memorable piano chords from Steppin Out which show up in a few tracks. I gave up on Joe after this one and it looks like major label Sony did also. Three albums since have been on Rykodisc. With the throw away beginning instrumental and three tracks with a female lead vocalist, Jackson fans must have felt a little cheated. Two of those vocalists I have never heard of, but the Marianne Faithful track of Love Got Lost is easily the best thing on here. Nothing gets a love score though and half of it is too avante garde for these old ears. I DO NOT LIKE THIS ALBUM Worst Track - Prelude Best Track - Love Got Lost Track Listing 1. Prelude * 2.
