I like it, but not as much as I thought I did. Only the leadoff track gets that love score with 3 not getting a like. This was Mark's second
solo attempt and the only one I have. We get 2 guest vocalist with James Taylor and Van Morrison. Interesting that the title track is inspired
from a book about the forming of the Mason-Dixon line. That is also the track where JT guests. VM shows up on The Last Laugh. I don't think
either of those vocalist meshed well with Knopfler. Showing 2 singles released but can't find where either charted. Allmusic calls this Dire
Straits eighth album referring to the sound. The Knopfler guitar is obvious but aside from that, I disagree. If anyone here has heard all of
Knopflers albums, how would you rank this one?

another of the xmas giftcard purchases,this one was released in february of this year...i saved a bit of money from my cards to purchase it...!
this is the younger Finn's third solo studio album under his own name, although he has made a lot more than those three in his 37yr recording career.
this one is dissapointing with half the album 'in the bin' basket!
a total lack of anything here, the songs all sound the same, it just sounds uninspired to my ears...
i dont expect the hot catchy tunes that made him huge with Crowded House and Split Enz, but i do expect some sort of value for money material from great songwriters no matter how long theyve been around. this one is almost as big a dissapointment as that stupid "new" album from Macca, SteveO loves that one, i guess he will then love this one also!

I'm with you on this one SteveO. Not a bad track in the links and I dug deeper and listened to Divebomber - cool spacey track. This is on my purchase list. This one feels like it will strengthen with each listen as there seems to be a lot bubbling just under the surface. Don't give up on this one yet CH.

there's very few things Finn has released that i dont like, he is a quality artist IMO, maybe i expected too much?. several listens already and it hasnt clicked with me yet.

either way, he could release ten dud albums in a row or never make another album but i would still go see him live everytime because he is a very good live performer IMO.

another xmas gift card purchase recommended to me by Tem in feb when it came out...
this is the debut album from these UK psychadelic rockers...
roots of this one are planted firmly in the same ground as Tame Impala,though slightly more commercially accessable that those guys from Australia.
a couple of these guys were previously in a band called The Moon's, of which, i have their debut set also.
as is typical of psych rock theres lots of fuzzy guitars,swirling keys and a 'wall of sound' that accompanies the dreamy,floating vocals.
im guessing that maybe a full retro offering from new young bands in the psychadelic style will get underway shortly with the success of these guys and Tame Impala over the next couple of years.
best track here is the opening one called "shelter song" which was originally released as a single in 2012,this has a thumping Black Keys style drum sound to it which sends the album into orbit from the get-go.
only one track i do not like on this one, not sure why i dont like it, but i dont.
all up, a good collection of songs from a band who has alternative rock in the palms of their hands if their evolve and morph with maturity as eash album gets recorded!
