The beatles and beyond...the solo careers
Lost amidst all this admiration which approaches fetishizing is that they were intensely competitive especially as regards a particular American band. They stacked up better as they had 4 songwriters vs. 1 maybe 1-1/2, they had outside arrangement/production vs. being self-done and most importantly, didn't succumb to drugs. Imagine a world in which Brian Wilson had not gone bonkers...This convo might be very different.
Oh, and about plagiarizing: If the author of the original song goes along with it or mere snippets are used, then it's creative re-purposing, not plagiarism. Robin Thicke plagiarized; Paul Weller and modern samplers, not so much.

About the Joyous One: Mr. Starr's work with various All-Starr evocations are just about the most fun possible with your clothes on. Recommend putting any of the DVD's on at a party and fugeddabout it--the party's made.

Don't know if this fits in here but there's a band in Northern California specializing in doing Beatles' whole albums. Called The White Album Ensemble, the members also do all manner of side projects: http://www.whitealbumlive.com/band.php I came on this totally by accident--enjoy!

Agreed. And are such accomplished musicians as to lead you to believe that's the way it should have been done all along. However, that's only a piece of what they do; point is that WAE exists as a band for one reason only. And do take a look at what it's members do for side-projects--amazingly pro and diverse. Back to you, Chet...<< taken from The Huntley-Brinkley Report news-hour back in the day--not meant as the punk-slap line it appears to be.
