SteveO Wrote:not sure what a "core" band is but I liked this track ! A "core" band is what I call a Metal band who infuses Hardcore Punk in a certain way, that would make the song at least partially fit into one of these sorts of genres e.g. Metalcore, Deathcore, Grindcore, etc. Those genres I've found I usually dislike, but have found some instances where it's pretty enjoyable, like that Codex Alimentarius song which is also partially Melodic Death Metal though. Here's another "core-ish" song which I like and am listening to now. Though it has quite a bit of Black Metal influence too. Thanks for the definition of "core" , Sogna! I can honestly say that I really don't like so called metal that I call "pop metal" that reaches the Top 40 ! Bands like Five Finger Death Punch and Avenged Sevenfold do nothing for me !

Though there's a lot of Metal from different sub-genres which could possibly qualify as such depending on your exact definition. Is your definition just what in Metal which has been popular? Because I'd disagree with it being bad, since I like some stuff by Metallica, Iron Maiden, and Black Sabbath. Or do you mean what is just currently popular? Because I could agree with that to an extent, though I do like some currently popular Metal bands. Or just a certain group of popular Metal bands? Such as the couple you mentioned as well as bands like Slipknot which I also dislike. I'm now listening to some spacey Black Metal. I'm listening to my favourite song from the album Scenes From Hell by Sigh, only a handful of other Sigh songs surpasses this one in my opinion.

I mean what is currently POPULAR or on the Billboard Top 40 charts.I saw Black Sabbath a few weeks ago...fabulous concert...Metallica, Slayer, Iron Maiden. Megadeath, Pantera, Queensryche, Motorhead, and Judas Priest are all metal...they are the ground breakers...I was thinking about the lame pseudo pop metal bands that sound the same, As I lay Dying, Black Label Society, Mastodon, Queens of the Stone Age,Killswitch Engage, Breaking Benjamin and System of a Down aren't for me! ( I like watching Slipknot videos...so bizarre and different...lol).
