Rare that I have all albums of a current artist this deep into their career. This wraps up the Killers collection and I'm still on board with them. They should be about due again. This comes out a little better than the last one, but Sam's Town rates the best for me. This is the bands lowest selling album to date though, not even going gold here. Still selling the best in the UK, where they again went to #1. Album title is on the state flag of Nevada and what the band named it's new studio. I see where between this album and the last one, Brandon Flowers released a solo album. Probably worth a listen for me. A lot of producers jumping on this one due to scheduling conflicts.

ok, this one is the last of my "A" list cd's and its from a freind of mine in Tem...
he was the keyboard guy in this band before they split up right about the time it was released...
the female vocalist decided she wanted to go solo.
this five track 'ep' contains,surprisingly....five tracks!
Tem describes the sound as similar to Alt.Rock bands Bombay Bicycle Club from the UK, and US bands Mutemouth,Thrice and Circa Survive...im only familiar with the Bombay guys.
he also says that live(which as we all know, can be completely different to studio material, that his band have often been described as sounding like Paramore(a comparrison he has always disliked!).
after the band split up the female vocalist recorded an album but alas she didnt release it because a month prior to her release Lorde came out with a very similar sounding album in "pure heroine"...
since the split the other three members formed a group called Lanark with an ex-boyfriend of my daughter,Damien, on lead guitar and vocal duties...their debut full length album has jest been released here in the last month or so...i managed to hear a few rough copies of songs from that album before the final mix was done.
anyway...
five tracks on this one, four i like,one i do not like...

OK,
David Bowie's 14th studio set.
Bowie is a bit too weird for me at times, and theres several tracks on here(like always) that i just do not 'get'???
the sound of the album is/was totally different to anything else that happening in music at that time which is a couple of steps ahead of everyone else.
"ashes to ashes" music is typical of whats going on for the most part here and as usual with a Bowie album theres several track i love and an equal amount that i dont
which is why IMO he is more of a singles artist.
not a bad album and certainly what youd expect of him in hindsight, i say hindsight because back in the day no-one knew what he'd come out with next time round.
personally i prefer the straight pop/rock of the "lets dance" album, but many diehard fans would disagree much prefering this sort of stuff.

i was recommended this one by Corey some time ago...
music has a few obvious influences happening in the form of John cougar/Mellencamp,Black Keys and White Stripes in places..
its generally alt rock with a bit of americana with country tinges.
its not bad,nothing great on here and really not much too aweful that its unlistenable.
i love the guy's vocals, they have a distinct Mellencamp feel happening.
the album,like i said, is ok, but its nothing to get me interested in the restof their catalogue!

The bands second album and the only one I have. Never thought it worthy of following up on. Love 2 tracks but 5 that don't make it. This is the
album that made the band and remains their best selling. I get an REM sound from a few of these tracks which I had not picked up on till this
listen. That's the cool thing about listening to albums you have not heard in years. Always picking up something new. Talking Heads Jerry
Harrison producing here who I always liked. The band is still a band playing live gigs, but vocalist Kowalczyk left in 2009 and the last studio
album was in 2006. Don't bother with a comeback attempt boys.
