Going back a little....this number one single was played continuously during the summer of '68 !!!! I bought the single, the first A side had about five minutes of the song, you had to flip the 45 over on the B side to hear the last two and a half minutes,,,lol,,,why ??? Hey Jude and MacArthur Park were long seven minute plus
singles that didn't have to be flipped !!!!.. :confused:

Bought an album by Metronomy earlier this month - The English Riviera. Really like it. Shows some real creativity. I see the principal songwriter has now popped up in the latest edition of 'Sound on Sound'. Very unorthodox approach to composition. One to watch.

yes very true I also like the song from Led zep 3 since ive been loving you which to me is one of their best songs particularly the live version from how the west was won 1972

compilation of this shortlived but highly influential 1960s 'supergroup'....
lots of psychadelia-cum-blues-cum straight rock and roll with lovely harmonies and melodies....
this stuff was probably the pre-cursor to what became known as 'prog rock'....
hard to believe that Clapton has successfully reinvented himself numerous times during his long career,but he has....
and the variation of styles on here, from "white room" to say "sunshine of your love" is incredible IMO...
not a band i love, but i do like them, just wish i'd have been there back in the day to see these guys perform, would have been awesome
also, it would be too easy to pick "sunshine....","white room","crossroads" etc as best track so im going for "anyone for tennis" this time round
