believe it or not Wiki says Depeche Mode have sold inexcess of 100million albums in their thirty plus year career...
i have two albums of theirs on cd "violator" and "some great reward", i also have their first four albums on cassette from back in the day and probably fifteen of their singles on old 7" vinyl....
both of the ones i own on cd have been previously posted on MD,linked below

another clue will follow later...
There are genuine sales figures and then there is ad puffery to promote a concert, figures being from a sketchy source. I prefer the sales figures for groups/artists in this article. There are some surprises but none as astonishing as your Wiki's assertion: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_bes...ic_artists

.....your wiki list is out of date!
your list youre showing quotes Elvis Presley as selling 207million albums with his Estate's 'claimed' sales list at 500-600 million, yet(are you ready for this Jazzbo)......
when i was at Graceland in August 2011, there was an award on one of the award walls in Graceland from the RIAA congratultaing Elvis Presley on worldwide album sales figures of "one billion album sales worldwide" that award was given to the Presley Estate by the RIAA almost a decade prior to me getting there, which makes Presley's feat achieved sometime probably around 2001-2004 from memory....
The Beatles also achieved the one billion sales mark a couple of years ago in a Rolling Stone article i read with Macca a couple of years ago and Macca was presented with a plaque from the RIAA for the feat....
also, after thoroughly reading the wiki article you posted i see that there is no reference to "digital download" albums, ie: sales via the likes of Itunes.....
the simple fact is....artists or probably more specifically, their record companies, will inflate their sales figues etc for their own means, but the fact remains, i didnt make up the 100million sales figures for Depeche Mode, i got them from an apparent reputable webpage, then cross referenced with another page...
anyone else could have done the same in order to get their answer if they chose to.

Bro C-H, let's end this pissing-contest with a bit of grace thusly: You stand by your figures and sources, and I'll stand by mine. Case closed; game over. Righteous, Brother?

i have two cds by these 'punks'....
love the way they integrate punk rock, punk attitude and Irish traditional instruments to create an interesting sound...
IMO,these guys are about as close to 1970s UK punk as you'd hear...
both albums have been previously posted by me on MD, i love both of them
